Hi All

Friend offered my his Yamaha Tyros 1 for my Korg M50......
Both in excelent condition.
Im a newbie and i like very much my M50. Is it worth swapping (tyros 1 is probably dearer at the moment....)
What will i lose soundwise...
Any help is very appreciated

I don't think a Tyros 1 is worth trading for an M50 for several reasons. The Tyros 1 is already two generations behind the Tyros 3, which hurts its value a lot. The PSR-S700,S900,S710,S910 are cheaper models that are based on newer versions of the Tyros, and they are better in some important respects than the Tyros 1.

The M50 is so much different in design than the Tyros, I can't think why anyone who bought the M50 would switch. The M50 is a lightweight ROMpler version of the M3, and is more focused on live performance. The Tyros is a big, bulky professional arranger workstation better used by solo performers or duos for its arranger styles for backing tracks, or to do fully scored arrangments for recording. I can see why someone might need both for different reasons, but unless you feel you made a mistake buying the M50 and it hasn't been working for you, I don't think you should trade it for anything at the moment.

I own the PSR-S900, which is based on the Tyros 2, and it sounds significantly better than the older Tyros 1. I also own the X50, because they serve different roles.

Good, as I think your friend was envious of your M50.

Very wise choice.
The M50 is a million times deeper as a musical instrument than the Tyros 1 or any Yamaha arranger for that matter.
