Hi ppl,

I was thinkin to get MS.
I like to get the instruments when they come out and try it. (of course not too expensive products only..lol)
I already do have mpc2500, but i think i just want to try it to see if it has any standing out function for fxs or etc.

as i was going over the review, i can see that MS is convenient for performance tool, not recording production that much.

is it that uncomfortable to use it as a recording production tool?

so far i can see that MS will definitely make me a faster way to make my vox or clap sound source sampled and change or edit them up quickly.
but if i want to use it as a production tool, then it has to have like different tracks to record them solo. (or like 16 midi channels? something like that..)

i mean,
whatever i said up there..
i just wanted to ask..
how do u guys like MS as a production tool?(if n e one use it as a production tool)
does it has an advantage even if i have mpc2500?

I think it integrates and works ALONG WITH whatever you already have.
It's not a workstation. KORG (in my humble opinion) makes products that are hugely powerful at a few exact things.

If you want to sample and apply a ton of effects than it's the Kaoss sampler...KP3. What beats that?

If you want to slap together some tunes really quick then it's an electribe groovebox. What's faster than an Electribe at that price?

for light sampling duties and a little mix of everything, there is the micorSAMPLER. Some effects, but no Touchpad. Some loops, but not a library full. Some presets, but it's not a ROMpler. Sends and receives MIDI, but it's not a MIDI controller.

If I did Sample-Based music, then I would buy a Sampling-Workstation. Something that did Sampling as its main function. I mean, NOT a workstation that samples i.e. the KORG M3. I see the big ROMPlers that sample are for loading in a few custom sounds or bringing samples that are part of songs that I want to trigger live.

Yes, you can make full songs, but not get 4 or 5 Keyboard-ROMpler (pitched up and down the keyboard) sounds going at once . You get one (usually a lead or bass is what I use that KEYBOARD mode for).
If you are primarily using loops and bits of samples, it's not a problem.
You probably have something else in your studio that makes your regular musical instrument/synth melodies anyway. You can always sample that into the microSAMPLER if you wanted to.

Workstations are crammed with features and the user only ...uses 3 or 4 of them. But that means it covers a lot of ground because it fits the needs of many. The microSAMPLER doesn't do EVERYTHING. Yeah, it'd be nice if there was a workstation version with...

1. Unlimited KEYBOARD MODE for samples.
2. Individual MIDI tracks for the sequencer.
3. Drum Pads.
4. bigger internal hard drive
5. Waveform view and huge LED
6. Full sized keys.
7 Touchpad and/or joystick
8. Step and linear and graphic Grid-based sequencing.

That would change the product and its cost and the market.
Let's consider what the microSAMPLER is actually offering.

1. It's a sampler with 3 or 4 modes of sampling. Older sampler didn't do this and these modes are usually only found on workstations or grooveboxes.
2. minikeys ties in with the size that it fits in any studio and is portable.
3. battery operated.
4. Quickest workflow of any sampler due to interface and LED indicators.
5. Huge sample bank (8 X 36 sample slots) that's a lot of drums to be carrying around...
6. Vocoder
7. Keys over pads. Been a long time since someone released a sampler with a keyboard.
8. The keyboard puts A LOT of samples at you finger tips- better than chopping samples and switching among a small set of pads.
9. Simple on board sequencer that (thankfully) does not do the Kaoss-pad layering in multiple passes thing.

For anyone looking at the microSAMPLER, I would look at what it does and does not do. I would also only care about what it does do and see if that includes the 3 or 4 things you want it to do.
