I have the midi out of my key step going to the midi in of my Kenton midi thru, the out of the Kenton to the midi in of my Korg Electribe sampler 2, another out of the Kenton going to midi port 5 of the RK004, the midi out of the Korg Electribe sampler to MIDI port 4 of the RK004, then the MIDI ins of my 3 synths (Roland SH01A, Korg Volca fm and other synth) to midi ports on the RK004. I can hear the notes when selecting different midi channels and playing them on the keystep (CH1 = Roland SH01A, CH2 = Korg Volca fm, CH3 = another synth) But when I want to record them on the Electribe Sampler 2 it won't. Funny.I can also see the sequencer steps are lit up on the sampler for the keys I put in but no sound. Is there a particular way you should have the Global Parameters set up on the sampler ? Or do I need so use the firmware for the RK004?. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.

Do you have the Midi Send Filter switched off on the Electribe?

Sorry, I should have said midi filter switched on. Make sure the midi out filter is set to OFF. This way he electribe will output all sequencer data

Are the synths responding when you play the corresponding pads (1 for MIDI channel 1, pad 2 for MIDI channel 2, and so forth) on the electribe ?

So the synths respond when I play the keys on the key step. But when I press the pads on the Electribe they do not respond to that. If that's what you mean? This could be the problem? any idea how to fix this?

This is weird. I would disconnect everything and try hooking up just one synth to the electribe and see if it can trigger the synth. If not there could be an issue with the electribe

Which means either the electribe does not output MIDI notes, or the RK-004 does not route the MIDI notes from port #5 to the gear.

To verify option #1 :
just connect the electribe MIDI OUT to the Kenton THRU box IN instead of the Keystep, disconnect the electribe MIDI IN from the Kenton OUT to avoid a MIDI loop, and see how it goes when you play the pads.

Just another thought. Its possible that the RK004 is seeing the electribe as a midi in device, so no data will be allowed to flow out of the electribe.

You might want to reset the RK004 and plug the electribe back in and trigger some notes or something to make the RK004 see it as a midi out device

What did you do to sort it out?

It may help someone trying to achieve the same results with similar gear. Wink
