You need the pload diskette - do you have it?
ALSO, have to performed the AB <> CD Arrangements switch - if so you need to reverse that first
Cheers

Hi Pete
Thanks very much for your quick response. I do have the Preload Discette a nd I have attempted load it, but it appears to have reversed the AB<>CD arrangements so they are now the wrong way round. From what you say I take it I should have reversed them before attempting to reload the program. But how do I do that? Or, since they are now reversed, will it correct everything if I just up load again
regards

Hey woodsie
I no longer have my i30 but hopefully I can still help.
The AB<>CD swap feature was great but came with a hidden issue that many owners didn't think about. Let me explain:-
Lets say we start from an out-of-the-box i30 with pload loaded and ready to go.
Regarding ARRANGEMENTS:-
1. the i30 AB=Factory AB
...the i30 CD=pload CD
2. Perform the AB<>CD swap
...the i30 AB=pload CD
...the i30 CD=factory AB
Now at this point you can change any CD ARRANGEMENTS (which of course were the original AB factory ARRANGEMENTS) etc...
What the Korg's instructions should have stated is "SAVE TO DISKETTE NOW BEFORE CHANGING ANY CD ARRANGEMENTS !!!" (this would ensure that you can recover the original AB ARRANGEMENTS)
Then later on when you want to recover the original AB you need to do this:-
1. Load your "SAVED ARRANGEMENTS" mentioned just above here
...the i30 CD=factory AB
2. Perform the AB<>CD swap
...the i30 AB=Factory AB
Now you can reload the OS, pload or whatever etc... and have your i30 back into an out-of-the-box factory state.
I hope I haven't confused you here so my question is:-
DID YOU SAVE YOUR ARRANGEMENTS IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOUR FIRST AB<>CD SWAP?
If so, you are safe, if not you need to find someone who did that (I will check my old files for you).
Hope this helps

Hi Pete
In answer to your question, I hadn't saved the the CD ARRANGEMNTS (Original ABs) but I haven't altered or edited anything. So I have now saved them onto a Diskette.
I think I can follow everything you say but just one thing puzzles me. You use the expression Perform the AB<>CD swop. Now does this happen automatically when I reload the pload diskette or am I missing something I need to do to perform the swop?
Thanks very much for your patience with me
regards

Hi Woodsie
The pload diskette does NOT load any AB ARRANGEMENTS - only CD.
The problem is that the AB ARRANGEMENTS were originally never designed to be edited - then Korg gave us an OS upgrade which enabled this hence giving us full editing on all ARRANGEMENT BANKS by means of the "swap" facility.
So the procedure I was explaining basically said this:-
If you want full factory restore, then make sure you have ARRANGEMENTS A&B back to factory setting BEFORE loading the pload and/or OS. This is only necessary if you have performed the AB<>CD swap at any stage - meaning the AB banks will not reflect factory defaults.
To your question:-
Quote: | You use the expression Perform the AB<>CD swop. Now does this happen automatically when I reload the pload diskette or am I missing something I need to do to perform the swop? |
You MUST perform the swap first to get the original AB back in place.
PLOAD does not overwrite AB ARRANGEMENT BANKS - they will stay unchanged.
Hope this helps - sorry if I have confused you.
Cheers
