Is 10% off the best deal on the Kronos?

Well if the units are shipping earlier, that IS good news!

I'll have to say though, I'm NOT a fan of sweetwater. Calling them to get a SIMPLE price quote is an exercise in futility! I tried to get prices from my "rep" on a Motif XS7 and a Korg M50-61 (Maybe one or two others as I was still narrowing down, I forget if I was 100% decided or not) and he would not give me ONE quote until I knew EXACTLY what I wanted! After that the rep harassed me for like a year.

I went with Alto Music my local store. Great staff, and their prices are usually SEVERAL hundred dollars below MAP for full on workstations. It basically makes up the difference for paying tax. So if I pay the same price WHY NOT go to the guy down the street who's awesome and close by if I ever have a problem? So that's what I do.

My local Guitar Center salesrep (here in the US) will match anything Sweetwater can do. Each time I've tried to do business with Sweetwater, they wouldn't move on the price and wanted to charge me for shipping. i have yet to buy a single thing from them.

I usually get about a 15-20% discount on gear through GC. My Motif XF7 was $3100 US at GC, I walked out the door with it for $2550. My friend bought an XF6 from the same guy and he got his (new) for $2000, retail $2400. Best of all, you walk in the store and have the item home in your studio in a matter of hours, not days.

10-percent is the minimum discount you should get in my book.

I'm confused by this... even their listings advertise Free Shipping. And the rep always makes the deal sweeter. hahah all puns intended.

They don't charge for shipping if you pay the regular price. If you get a discount, shiping is at the discretion of the sales rep.

You are lucky. Most sales reps won't go that low.

Hey - first post here. Full disclosure, I'm John Grabowski, Director of Purchasing at Sweetwater Sound. Just wanted to clarify a couple of things.

The original "early Feb" date for KRONOS was an error on our part. We'd put in an order with Korg for new NAMM releases, and when Korg confirmed receipt of that order, a normal Korg lead time was entered on the PO erroneously. That was the information that the Sales Engineer was working from. Obviously, these new NAMM releases aren't available yet. Apologies for any confusion caused.

As for the early May date, that's still just a rough estimate based on Korg saying that they think KRONOS will begin shipping sometime in April. At this point, finished units aren't "on the water" yet (i.e. there aren't new KRONOS keyboards on ships headed to the U.S.), so that April/May ETA is still pretty loose IMO, and it's very common for the shipdate on a newly released product to move out a bit (though the closer we get to the date, any further delays tend to be shorter and shorter).

Hope that helps explain what happened on the KRONOS ETA. Now, back to waiting impatiently ... Smile

Don't wanna wait! I want it now!

Thanks for the update, Sweetwater-man. I don't think any of us REALLY believed that there were Kronos' available anytime sooner than 2nd Q.

Well, there are actually some of us waiting who are not in the USA!

Also, "on the water"? Have they not heard about "in the air"?

It is very expensive to ship large keyboards via air freight which is why most are sent by boat.

When the first OASYS keyboards came out, the first small batch was actually sent by air to the U.S., most likely because the keyboard was delayed a little.
