Funny you should say that since the original song was written and performed on a KORG 01W. As for the Tyros demo, it's ok up to the point where the drums come in and then it falls to pieces. The harmony is bloody awful. Very poor quality.

Regards
Sharp.

To be really honest with you... I did not like the harmony at all! But as Sharp says, at the point when the drums come inn, is the only part of the clip that I liked...KORG sounds much better, but mostly when you are programing sounds yourself will it sound better than Yamaha!
Korg is a professional arranger, nothing more to say Smile

But now we haven't tried pa3x yet... I cant say anything until I try it.

De är frågan om vad du vil ha kompis Smile)

Sharp, can you please change my forum name:(?
I think I was drunk when I choose the username...

Ok, the reason you posted the link was for us to listen to the sound quality and not the performance. So, I'll limit my comment to that.

The harmonizer sounds shitty. Korg's is little bit better, but that doesn't matter to me. You can always buy a VoiceLive 2, if you're a hardcore vocalist.
Drum kit sounds good. Guitar is not bad, and the pad is lovely. I could've used that pad in my styles big time. (He should not have used it in this song though!, it screwed it up real bad) Awesome choir sounds for a keyboard.

Hi,
the helicon is a good marketing - "based on VL2"
- I asked by TC Helicon - the algorithmics are from VL2 - but the engine not - so it's never exact the very same quality
But stil a Helicon and much better like by yamaha etc.

Absolutely correct - in fact it originated on the i30 - fabulous style - I still use it (and the drum fill is great!!).

Cheers

I presently have just purchased a Tyros4, based on my experience with the PA2Xpro.

If it is all about great sound (and for most of us "players", that's the bottom line) the Tyros4 simply blows away the PA2Xpro and, quite possibly, from what I've heard so far from the PA3X...it will surpass that one as well.

Yes, you can edit like crazy in the Korg...and, most, if not all times, you must do that in order to make the factory patches even remotely as full of character and responsiveness as the Tyros4' SA and SA2 voices.

Yes, the Korg sequencer has more powerful editing...but, most of us use a software that is far easier to use than trying to edit using a tiny touch screen.

If I like the the PA3X, I might purchase one to be a companion instrument to the Tyros4, but, it will never replace it..those SA2 voices have yet to be equalled on any arranger, let alone a Korg.

Just to be clear, I am not brand loyal...I use what works best...in addition to my T4 and PA2Xpro, I have a Hammond XK3c that does organ better than anything else, and a Prophet '08 that fulfills the analog synth role without equal.

So far, the Tyros4 is still well above other arrangers as far as playability and sound.

Come on Korg...get your poo together, and make something a little more unique than what, so far, appears to be just a slightly warmed over PA2Xpro. Yamaha's Tyros3 to Tyros4 was a very significant change, in my opinion, as well as many others, so a re-hashed PA isn't quite going to cut the mustard for many arranger users out there.

Again, this is my personal (but, as I have found, very supported) opinion.

Pete

Hi snazzyplayer
Good luck with your T4
Obviously suits your needs which what this is all about.

Personally I wouldn't go near it having owned and recorded with T3. Great sounds but take some of that massive DSP from them and it ain't so different from the rest. They have been very smart with DSP/sound configs.

Hey it's interesting you say that because I found it to be the complete opposite. They made no improvements or new features in the OS and they charge like a wounded bull when it comes to add-ons. I think they "tried" the market with purely new sounds and sound configs.
But, as I have said many times before, the T3/4 OS is not for performances IMHO - lots of useful features missing and uncomfortable controls unless you build your entire repertoire and required functions in REGISTRATIONS - that is so behind the times for me.
Anyhow, no arguments here - it is all subjective and in the ears (and needs) of the beholder.
And, as you say, these things are purely personal.

Hammond XK3 - very nice - would love one of those....
...do you use a real Leslie with it?

Cheers
