I thought heard something on the radio, definitely a advertisement, that use some WD sounds. I could be wrong I was working at the time. Does anyone know o any uses in media now?

This is a very late reply, but it seems like the Wavedrum gained quite a bit of popularity in Japanese media.

For one thing, the band KOR=GIRL was founded with the idea of using Wavedrums as their main instruments. They only released 6 songs before disbanding, but it was definitely an interesting project.

More recently, Japan's most popular girl group, AKB48, used a Wavedrum in a (terrible) live performance of their song "GIVE ME FIVE!"
Most of the girls only learned to play these instruments for this one song, so that's why it sounds so awful. But really, you can't get more mainstream than AKB.

AKB48 are so popular and have such devoted fans that some stores are actually using their name to sell Wavedrums - http://store.ishibashi.co.jp/ec/pro/disp/1/01-521504090
(The item description reads "[AKB48 Baby Blossom] WAVEDRUM WD-X [The same model used by Matsui Jurina of SKE48]")

It definitely feels like the Wavedrum is becoming better recognised among musicians.

Japanese mainstream kinda Cool

comment from my Lady for "Baby Blossom": so cuuute

my comment for KOR=GIRL
very interesting is this slight "off tune" singing
even makes it sounding kind of psychedelic (kind of)
shure worth to reband

offtopic , but still with drums included :
My one favourite Japanese "Ladies Band"
(Im not so familiar with "Mainstream" Wink)

" The 5 6 7 8s "

and maybe this one ? (from a Q.Tarantino movie)

Driving last night one of my kids songs came on my iPhone random play. A song from Wreck it Raplph animated movie. Sugar Rush, didn't realize it but that was AKB48. I wonder if the WD was used in that song.

@Bertotti
Thank You for pointing at this .

makes this thread much more "entertaining" Laughing

Wanna have some beef on the burger ?
here it is :
AKB48 SHugar rush :

Sorry , I couldnt scan it for WD sounds , as my ears nearly started bleeding
Thats too sweety for me ...
@korg could you pleeaase offer a pink Kiddie WD model (with kiddie sounds)
and sell it in ToyZ R Us ??
many $$$s

--------------------------------------------------------------------
BEWARE
from here on OFFTOPIC and definitely Offstream,
To balance this out a bit I want to to show creative youngsters

Here is "The Other Side of the Coin" :
"Punks di Indonesia , Apa Kabar ?"
"My hand touches my heart for you"
Food for thought , REALLY worth to watch ALL of it ...
different societies ... different life ... different children ...different creativity
and far away from "The Box Matrix"

Sorry the reason you didn't make it through the song is one reason I didn't post a link. Not the demographic Korg is probably going for but what a way to influence future buying habits. These kids are future consumers.

Horrible video and an annoying song, sadly I do not read or understand spoken Japanese, so I can't say what the message is. I do however see the Wreck it Ralph movie and the message wasn't about eating sugar. My kids and I can not speak for all kids, clearly understood this show was about standing by your friends and accepting people for who they are and accepting yourself for who you are, they really enjoyed the movie and I was pleased that was how they took the show. I can not say what the some means though, perhaps the language barrier worked in our favor this time, perhaps not. What a horrible video though like you I could only make it about 20 seconds before shutting it off!
