We shuffled positioning around at rehearsal last night, putting my kit a tad closer to one of the P.A. mains, to accommodate the controllerist guy we were auditioning. Halfway through the first song, at about 95 dB, we had an ungodly burst of feedback erupt that *would not stop*. Our first panicked thought pointed us towards the bari player, who was mic'd into a pedalboard for the first time. Had to be that, right?

No joy. Everybody else shut down completely, leaving the wavedrum the only possible culprit. Cranked it down, and there was peace once again.

First time that's happened in 8 months of 4 times a week rehearsals/gigs under all manner of dubious circumstances. Weirdest damned thing.

So now you know.

Thanks Kaden. very good to know.

I'm guessing that the tone was probably the resonant tone for the wavedrum.

If it happens again and becomes a problem, try tuning the head a little different.

best of luck to ya.

Feedback issues. Just when you thought wrangling the Wavedrum couldn't get any tougher.

I have that same issue from time to time with some of the patches with algorithms that apparently use the rim as piezo mics (I maybe wrong, but it seems that some algos use the sensors as triggers only, while others use them as sensors and mics).

Persistent feedback tends to happen due to hard hits when things are turned up pretty loud and the WD is near the speaker...

It would appear that a solid whoomp on the kick drum and/or a flurry of slap/pop bassist freneticism are the usual triggers.
