So, let's conjecture: a new Fantom to compete with Kronos? |

Been mentioned HERE on this forum.
However, *IF* it is a keyboard, I hope it doesn't continue the "Fantom" line, but is something very different to previous Roland keyboards, Like the OASYS was different to the normal "Triton" keyboards and other korg products at that time.
If its a keyboard, it has to do well to compete with KRONOS, but since Roland have got other things more covered that Korg haven't (Sequencer/Drum roll/USB mouse interface etc), then maybe they will work on sections of there boards that were lacking. What, I wonder, could Roland produce to REALLY challenge the KRONOS?, Roland have great capabilities for great sounds (Jupiter 80). It needs to be "Complete to Compete", warts and all.
A Jupiter 80 - but a Workstation/sequencer/Sampler???
Some sort of multi-tracker/sampler/recorder enters my mind though...
It'll probably be a guitar tuner, but then again perhaps not, as only Korg do guitar tuners... _________________ KORG KRONOS 88-Korg D3200-Casio Privia PX-830BP-KAWAI RX-2 Grand Piano

On the 16th I'll be ordering my Kronos. Roland will have to do something pretty radical to change my opinion. Gawd I hope it's a tuner ! _________________ Latest Set Up: Kronos 61, Casio Privia, Korg TR61, EoWave Ribbon, Roli Rise 48, TEC Breath Controller, StudioLogic MP-117 Bass Pedals, Moog Theremini.

Add a V-synth engine and I would be intrigued. |

Ghehe LOL, there's a reason I'm selling my Fantom G.. But I have to admit I am always curious for new thingies
Just watched the movie. No new synths/sucessor Fantom G. I wouldn't be surprised if Roland decides to end the Fantom line actually.

For some reason the vid doesn't work in ie9 (as of this morning anyway) - but can be seen if firefox is used.
Nothing major announced really - and no new ws. _________________ Plugged in: Fantom 8, Jupiter-X, Jupiter 80, System-8, JD-XA, V-Synth GTv2, FA-06, SE-02, JU-06A, TR-09, VT-4, Go:Livecast, Rubix44, Shure SM7b, Push2, Ableton 11 Suite, Sibelius, KRK Rokit 5, |

I know that there's nothing new in keyboards/synths etc. but I am intrigued by the R-Mix software application:
http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=1176
Check it out. It offers some really interesting ways to isolate and play with elements within a track/mix. For learning tunes I could see many ways to use that. I've always found these type of technologies a bit "hazy" as regards audio fidelity, so I don't know that it would really work for making new mixes/performing live, but as a learning tool it holds a lot of promise.
At 85 British Pounds (can't find the graphic symbol), it seems worth a spin. And an iPad version coming as well.
There's cool things happening in the world of audio manipulation that we never would have dreamed possible 5-10 years ago. Don't take them for granted.

I'm wondering how this compares to Melodyne's DNA. Any thoughts? |
