I think what would be a good solution to my problem is to use Waterdrum's external rim trigger mod and hook up a mesh headed drum pad like the Rolland's I just don't think I can make this happen for this round of performances. But in the future in the future!

btw I am not really convinced by meshheads
imo compared with Remo skins they dont bring a really good sound...
there is a DIY solution with a Remo practice pad , that I gonna test next

I was only thinking of the mesh head pad for an external trigger. For my need of a dead silent trigger. Just one shot not rhythmic playing.

They are very cool instruments. I own a knock off called an aqua-phone. It does not have the same sound or build quality as the original Waterphone but it is a fraction of the price. A good friend of mine does have an original and it is much warmer and better made than mine.

I've found them to be a one or two trick pony so I can't justify the extra money for an original one. I use a contact mic on mine and run it though fx pedals and loopers. It's great for textures.

How did they sound in person, full, exciting, haunting, or just a single tone novelty? They sure look cool! I can't judge the tone on my iPod though.

WaterDrum,

I still can't seem to make sense out of these files. Is it possible to post something in a different format? I'm getting a spreadsheet of sorts, but the data is very confusing on my screen. I'm running a Mac with "Numbers" but it usually isn't a problem to automatically convert xls files.

I had the same problem with earlier versions that you posted as well.

Any suggestions?

It never worked in numbers for me either. I had to use an office program.

these are EXCEL files and they dont work with numbers.
here I found some MAC freeware:

these files do probably not work with the free software "OpenOffice" anymore

for Mac related questions ...Bertotti shure should be an expert (me not..)

-with these EXCEL files (*.XLS format) you can copy/paste
complete soundlines from one place to another ,
(more than one file can be opened at the same time)
-you can build up your own soundbank
-insert you own data
(sorry per hand, about 2 min for 1 sound to read out the WD parameters)
-compare sounds
-save your edit
-print selected parts (soundlist)
even audio example files could be included.

I suggest you try to get some old office program or try "Neo Office"
it is really worth it.
This is in my opinion the best way to handle & exchange sound(data).

I really do not so much want to transfer the sound data by hand Sad

(4 sounds) the last solution would be a screenshot.

I am not happy with the quality (needed re-editing) , but well , OK....

btw your hangdrum sound is also available in EXCEL ,
though I am still not shure ,whether I made a mistake when I worked it in.. Wink

Numbers has always been good about importing office xls files but for what ever reason this one gets jumbled. I may give it another shot and see if I can figure out why.

Was thrilled to hear you met Baschet and Lasry creations, they were located in Paris, where I lived when I was teenager, and was creative in building instruments, I often pushed their door, which was allways open in the late 60 early seventies, and played those cristals connected to metal, they were absolutly great people and very open minded and friendly. Was building simple stuff mainly with metal, and had a gig/happening in Paris with John Cage I met somehow in 1972, where he gave me a slot in one of his creation, a big hall where a few other musican had stages too, and we played at the same time, it was a bit weird in a way. My installation was big oil tins (50 liters or so), big sheets of metal, and metal tubes, so it was a kind of happening in the happening he put together and people were invited to join and beat the metal, and John Cage liked it, as it was including public, and it was no musical instruments.
Later on I started learning tablas in Nepal, and now, ah hum, playing WD for its capacity of creating sounds (was into synthe programming for a while), and japanese flutes, shakuhachi for its rawness and connection to the breath. Was looking for a percussion that could play with the bamboo flutes, specially the bassy ones.

So, as this link related to part of a landscape I knew, wanted to share this part of the puzzle of sound scape creation.
Small world, and people meet in a great way!
