does anyone know how the logo plate is fastended to the front rim section?
is it glued maybe?

Adhesive, I warmed mine up and pressed it down. Another member contacted support and they sent him/ her a new one. |

Thank you for clarification! Now I assume the logo plate is made out of plastic, right? The reason asking this is that now I´m a bit confused how hard i can hit on the logo plate with harder sticks/mallets ... |

Let's make sure we are talking of the same piece. By logo plate do you mean the extension over the head below the display? If so I wouldn't hit it, use the rim. I have hit it and the extension itself is aluminum but the logo is just a sticker, a thick foil I think but I'm not sure. The sticker does dent mine is scuffed up from my kids getting carried away. I find the wavedrum to be quite durable all around. |

That extension sticks out over the head to protect a pickup underneath it. I like to hit quite close to it for different attacks. |

Yup, had the same problem with my 6 month old silver WD.

Got a full refund and applied it to the purchase of a WD Oriental.
I just love the WD Oriental. _________________ Current Gear:

Yikes! Don't hit that cover!
I realize this topic has come up before but I didn't realize people were using the logo area as a playing surface. I remember seeing this video with Carl Palmer, and even he is whacking on way on the logo!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QHTrBu5od4
But it never occurred to me to use that as a striking surface. As Bertotti mentioned, the reason for that section of the Wavedrum is to protect the highly sensitive transducer that sits directly below it. Without that cover, the transducer would get damaged and the output would no-doubt distort because the trigger information would be so hot from a direct strike.
I can see how that area might be tempting to hit, but I really don't think it was ever intended to be used as such. Of course it does trigger quite well because the construction of it is a direct extension of the aluminum rim itself. But if you don't strike that area, there should be no reason for the logo sticker to lift up under normal circumstances (although there may be exceptions as has been noted from other users).
That's just my take on it. |
