For all sorts of things to make the next gen WD. But apparently. Itching new this year. I understand there have been some demands with the release of the game changer but this product does look interesting maybe it will be all it's cracked up to be without costing as much as a tempest!

I did brute force midi on my wavedrum with a pair of piezos. One on the head, one on the rim. Jacked them into a pair of trigger inputs on my TD-8, then stuffed the TD-8 midi out into Battery3 on my laptop.

It took a while to lay out the cells and velocity layers in Battery, and tweezing the sensitivity and crosstalk rejection on the V-Drum brain is *never* easy, but when it was all up and running the WD was making it's own sounds, plus triggering 2 voices on the TD-8, *plus* triggering multiple multi-sample layered cells in Battery.

Latency was maybe 5-6 ms, which is a tad flammy, but by gawd, it was a slab of sound. Making it usable in an ensemble context would have taken more time than the benefits warranted.

Whoa that is a bummer! To bad it didn't work out well. I always learn more from my failed experiments then my successful ones. I don't supose that helps any though.

The architecture of groove boxes makes them predisposed towards facilitating 'dance music'. If you're down with that, they're lotsa fun. If you're not, there are better ways to spend your money.

I wish I knew more about all the possibilities and other options. I played with the Kansas pro it was fun but in the end for me it was more a toy dance and rave/rage stuff not what I am after in the end. I machine seems cool but it lacks feeling. I think I just need a real kit and learn how to coordinate or uncoordinate all my appendages to get what I am after. You know that 57 renown kit is kind of cool. Ah so much gear out there and so little time and money!

Yeah, the '57 kit looks great in photographs, but not so much in real life; I was kinda disappointed, truth be told.

Then there's the whole 'paying for Renown shells and then mucking up the resonance by gluing big chunks of aluminum onto them' issue.
