| A question and some thoughts, how do you guys balance the sound from the WD to the kit? And do you run it stereo with the kit? I will not have a mic'd kit just the WD through the QSC K10s. I don't gig just at home so I think I can just run the WD through he small yamaha mixer and set it's volume to the kit but what if I do set up a couple over head mics for the kit? I imagine I will need to record the WD on a separate channel and then set levels to the kit from there? Does that sound right? Thanks Bertotti |

Laptop. I have my RNP, Firebox, and small Yamaha mixer some guitar foot pedals also, which can be fun with the WD.
I should add the only mics I have are a stereo pair of fathead 2 ribbon mics, a cheap AA powered at mic which actually sounds pretty good, and a Blue Snowball. I haven't tried any on drums. I have never recorded drums. |

Record a stereo pair with the wavedrum live... it'll take a few passes to get the WD amplification level proper. Whenever I have to do quick 'n dirty recording I get someone to have a thrash on the kit while I walk around the room: when I find a spot in the room that sounds good, I put up an X-Y pair of condensers *right there* and I'm good to go.
When you're doing the walk around, don't forget to do a circuit on your hands and knees, because sometimes the room gives a good sound in the damnedest places.
Yeah, you'll fell like an idiot, but whatever...

From the Trigger audio outputs at the bottom of my of my modded SILVER WD 
I can directly record the built in piezo microfone signals
at the same time and parallel with the normal Audio OUTS .
4 track or 3 track recording.
(and play it back into the Wavedrum , as a pattern
for editing or sound tests) 
you can hear these acoustic signals when you turn Vol 1-4 down to zero.
for a good recording you may want to have a small mixer as well...
and microfones or piezos  |
