i will prefer to keep it simpe and light for mobile devices.
not everyone uses tapatalk (that anyway has some problems) so having a forum that remains accessible even from 2G/3G mobile data connection with no heavy graphics is a plus to me. |

Here are some suggestions right off...
If you're going with a black background, then you should use grey text color. It reflects less light, thus putting less stress on the eyes. You're currently using #C0C0C0 on a textured background. There's still room for improvements.
Keep your CSS in a stylesheet instead of the HTML.
Make the page mobile friendly.
Change the font; Lucida Grande, Helvetica, Palatino Linotype, Book Antiqua, Palatino. They will all look nice. Get rid of Times New Roman.
Incorporate RSS feeds from hot forum topics.
Focus on browser compatibility; Chrome, Firefox, IE, Safari, Opera. In that order.
And.. if possible.. incorporate HTML5 and fluid jQuery.. Cheers. _________________ Sina @ http://www.sound4sina.com/blog - Since 2003 |

It's too dark; and the proposed text colours are too strong with toom much contrast IMO. It would be tiring on the eyes. Look at Facebook and Twitter for example - they are similar in colour scheme to your existing one.
Whatever about redesigning the forum and putting new pages and page formats in; I recommend making the colour scheme easy on the eye - this is a quality forum as it is.

Hi Sharp,
Currently, I use the FI Apple Default board style. It's simple and clear and I like the tab menu at the top. I also appreciate that there are choices for the "Board Style" in my profile menu. If that can/will be retained, then it's all OK by me.
Thanks, as always, for your continued dedication to this community. _________________ Cheers,

I like it a lot! Although I do think the homepage is a little "busy", try spacing things out a bit more. |

I like the idea of a re-design, but I too find the proposed high contrast theme a little harsh.
My biggest gripe would be the width restriction of the content. Here on a widescreen monitor, over half of it is a black pattern with all the content scrunched in the middle.
I agree with Martin the actual forums are great how they are. I also like to surf this at work and the lighter theme helps keep it on the DL.
Regardless Sharp, thank you so much for your continued efforts! You truly are an asset to Korg users worldwide. _________________ Korg: KRONOS 73, M50-61, 01W/r

I like the colors. Dark gives impact. Although I agree with X-Trade about the text font. It should be a sans serif font, kind of Helvettica/Arial type. Besides, it saves space, since words are smaller in sans serif fonts.
Regarding the main page, is ok to be as flashy as you like, big logos and the sort, but once you click into any of the options (being the forums one of them), let the menu bar remain (or be on demand) and put a mini korg-forums logo on the top left of the menu, so you can have as much real state for forum as possible.
Other than that, looks awesome.
Looking forward to it. _________________ Martin Ocando

Sorry Sharp but feel compelled to express my opinion on your redesign again - please, PLEASE do not have white writing on a dark background - it works well for the HST website (!) but it's too darn hard on the eyes for a text only medium. The colour scheme is perfect as it is - please don't change it !!
(my two-penny's worth)

Hi Kevin.
I'm not removing or changing the preference you or anyone has set in their discussion forum profile.
When you come here and the dark theme is running, the second you login to the forum it will revert to exactly as you see it right now.
Same as always.
When I come here right now the theme is white. When I login it goes dark. It's been that way the last decade for me.
Regards
Sharp. _________________

I would like to see the pa500 taken out of the forum it is in at present and placed together with the new pa600 in a single forum covering the two keyboards. |
