The title says it all.

I would hope we can tick this one off as working with the KRONOS so I can add it to the list.

Hi Sharp,
This unit is working pretty well with the Kronos without settings.
see the following thread:
http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=71787&highlight=akai+ewi
So you can mark it as working.
Cheers. _________________ KORG KRONOS73 -- Minimoog Model-D -- KORG M1 -- M-AUDIO FastTrack C600 -- M-AUDIO AXIOM-25MK2 -- Roland Vdrum TD12KV |

I can probably have our sax player try the EWI on Sunday. The idea is to just hook it up via usb and be able to play the sounds, right? |

@SanderXpander:
Yes you have just to connect the EWI usb to one of the usb ports in the Kronos and that's all.
You are done and the Sax player could use the Synth lead sounds
Try to imitate Mickael Brecker (RIP) with an OB8 sound like !
The test has been done in OS 1.5.
I am still waiting for the 1.7 to upgrade (1.6 has the Karma problem) !
I hope this helps. _________________ KORG KRONOS73 -- Minimoog Model-D -- KORG M1 -- M-AUDIO FastTrack C600 -- M-AUDIO AXIOM-25MK2 -- Roland Vdrum TD12KV |

There are some good brass, reed, and flute KRONOS programs by William Busch (burningbusch) for use with wind and breath controllers at:
http://thekronosblog.blogspot.com
(They might have been posted on this forum too.) These programs work well with the EWI USB. |

Definitely check out the William Busch wind programs--they're excellent! (Keep your ear open for the Miles Davis trumpet and Stan Getz sax, especially!!) _________________ Man of Korg Man: MicroKorgXL; MicroStation; Kronos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is awesome! I'm going to buy a Kronos soon. I play keys and electronic wind instruments all the way back to my modified Casio DH. I sold my WX5 last year and just ordered an EWIUSB. _________________ Korg M3, Yamaha Motif XS6, Mac running Logic. |

I plan to have myself an Akai EWI USB as a birthday present.
I understand it works immediately after pluggin' it in the Kronos USB2
Question: Suppose I have in a Combi the Sax sound I want to use with EWI on Midi Channel 2 (rest of the Keyboard on Midi, and likely my other Midi Keyboard I use on Midi Channel 4).
How do I need to set Kronos that it understands that EWI midi notes and CC's needs to be sent to Midi Channel 2? _________________ Ad

Set the EWI to send on MIDI channel 2. It's easy to do in the PC editor.
I don't think there's a way to configure the Kronos to remap its messages to a particular MIDI channel. |

Thanks. I indeed now understand that you can configure the EWI using the Aria software on PC/Mac with specific Midi Channel, CCsettings, and then saves that to EWI's non-volatile EEPROM.
I was just wandering how to do that, before I buy. _________________ Ad

Yes, it's quite easy. It's also very easy to change these parameters via NRPN or SysEx messages per documentation posted to http://ewiusb.com/, in case you have any trouble with the software. Unfortunately, since it's USB only, you can't send these messages from the Kronos itself. Once you have the settings saved to the EWI, you can plug it into the Kronos directly and it works great. |

Man, these Busch programs are fabulous with the Akai EWI USB and the Kronos. I have the EWI since monday, and it sounds like heaven.
EWI on Midi Channel 2, Kronos mainly thru Midi 1, with some midifile stuff in the sequencer as backing. Sounds great!
Thanks! _________________ Ad

Don't like reviving an old thread, but I finally managed to buy myself an AKAI EWI 5000. Works like a dream, and sits very well in the mix with my KRONOS.
The EWI and KRONOS make a nice match.
Regards
