Hi,

I'm new to the microsampler and to sampling.

Just a simple question - how do I ensure I am sampling at the correct pitch?

Many thanks,

Simon

You can sample at any pitch, but as a general rule for sampling instruments, use the key of C because in Keyboard mode all keys will be fixed at the pitch of the sample assigned to the C4 key. I always sample at the key of C to keep things simple and in tune, of course this may change when creating a multi-sampled instrument in Sample mode.

Thanks, Chris - but I think I am a step backwards from your explanation. I don't know how to play a C and assign it directly to the C. i can semitone shift after sampling to get a sample in tune but want to assign it to the right key in thr first place...

I am relating to the C key on the piano keyboard, the MicroSAMPLER starts at C3, the next C4 is 12 keys up, and so on. If I sample a piano sound for instance, I would play the C key on the piano, and that will match the C on the MS, so when you play that sample back in Keyboard mode on the MS, it will be in tune.
If you are sampling a guitar play a C note or chord on the guitar, I am talking here about matching up to play back in Keyboard mode.
Say you want to sample different chords in Sample mode, select the key on the MS that match the chord you are sampling.
