i know this sounds not unique to jamiroqui, but it has become a major part of their sound.

i am searching for a way to replicate (to whatever extent possible) the 70s disco string section fall/stab sound inn my kronos. I've searched a little on the internet to try and find information about this sound, but haven't had much luck. its incredibly noticeable in songs like little l in the chorus, or canned heat. (the canned heat one sounds quite a bit punchier)

I've tried taking a string sound, adjusting the decay to be quite short, and then altering the pitch eg to have the fall, but the initial strike is never strong enough to cut through the mix like the jamiroquai ones.

do you guys have any suggestions on something i could do to help this, or possible point me towards a sample library that already has this sound in it?

I've made a program using a strings fall mixed in a combi for Just Dance. PM me your email and I'll send it to you

To create the program, select a string sound and adjust pitch envelope attack settings. You can also set this up so that it responds to velocity intensity.

It's not that simple. When you slide down on a string instrument, not only does the pitch change but also the timbre changes because you are increasing the length of the vibrating portion of the string.

the troubles not so much in getting the pitch to lower as it is in the attack of the note. the string samples in the kronos don't have strong attacks like many of the 70's disco string ensembles. the 01/w has a great strong sample which I've attempted to sample and use in the kronos. but i think to fully achieve this sound, you'd need to get the sample from an actual string section!!

I've made a patch up for little l using the 01/w sample. have a listen and see what you think

Sample NI's Session Strings. It's an awful library for general use...but, it was MADE for "disco strings"--with both scoops and falls as part of every sound.

The Disco String Fall is just the pitch change itself. The combi has it mixed with Tremolo string for the attack sound.

Sounds great but these are for the Motif, is someone working on a Kronos version? or is there a soundset available already?

Here ye go...

2 Progs in USER-EE - 1 with Vel Switched Falls and another with Vel Switched Scoop.
I didn't spent too much time on this last night, so you may want to do some editing to get it right.

Edit:-
Just noticed I had some Top End Boost on the Amp/EQ Page - probably best you adjust this to taste....

Edit 2 - Sorry guys, I'll fix some errors today and re-upload.
