Hello all,
I just bought my Krome 88 last weekend and have been playing with it, so please pardon the newbie questions. I've read the manual and digested as much as I could, but might have missed something.
Here's the problem. I can load a MIDI file and then attach Krome patches to the various tracks. I can even save the SEQ to a SD Card and then reload it from there. But the minute I hit PLAY on the transport control, it dumps all of the patches I've assigned to the various tracks and throws them back to GM sounds.
Anyone have any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong here? And what other info are you going to need to help me troubleshoot?
This is fairly important as I hoped to use some of these midi files to build a set list for a performance. If I can't, I'll just have to use backing tracks, which sort of defeats the purpose for buying a sequencer / work station.
Apologies in advance if I've missed something obvious. _________________ Andrew Adams |

Hi Andrew,
I am not near my Krome 88 or its manual at the moment but I have a suspicion as to the cause of the problem. The header information in the Standard MIDI File you have loaded includes GM program chance data. Your need to strip out this data and then assign new internal sounds to solve the problem.
This shouldn't be too hard to accomplish. Open the sequence, enter track edit mode and delete program change data from bar 1 to bar 2. Do this for each track. Then re-assign appropriate sounds to each track.
Sorry I can't be more specific at the moment, but hopefully that will give you a start in the right direction.
Best Regards,
Dave |
