Hi Thoraldus:
I looked through my old stuff and found a Sonar 8 Producer Edition.
I installed it, 64-bit version. Seems to be working great. However, when I tried to to what you explained to me I could get there.
I selected:
OPTIONS>INSTRUMENTS
I saw the two(2) windows - OUTPUT/CHANNELS and USED INSTRUMENTS
DEFINE was grayed out and I could not selected it.
I feel like a dummy. |

Yes, and make sure your keyboard is selected under OPTIONS > MIDI DEVICES _________________ ”It’s easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself.”

Hi Thoraldus:
I finally got my Pa900. It is a challenge no doubt. However, PA900 is an awesome keyboard. Possibilities up to no end. I tried the SONAR 8 and it turned out exactly the way you explained it to me. Connected the PA900 to the computer and everything started to work in Sonar 8. Wonderful, thank you very much for your help.
Now comes the next problem I seem to have. When I try to import the MIDI Style, I go by the manual. It states when you want to import the complete style in one try SELECT the style, press SHIFT and than EXECUTE.
Then release SHIFT button. Everytime I do that my PA900 locks up. I have to turn it off and back on again. I made sure I went by the MIDI table in the manual, only use CH 9-16 and save in MIDI 0 format.
I also made sure that all MIDI channels correspond to the PA3X.
After trying for a day and getting nowhere I guess I need to ask for some help.
Thank you

Hi Thoraldus:
I figured it out. It had something to do with the marker desciption. Once I changed them to the korg format everything started to work. And by the way, it is just the opposite from what the manual explained. When holding shift and than execute, you import only import what you ask for to import.
However, thank you very much for your help.

Hi,
Same issue on Pa600 when trying to import some styles in midi format from other keyboards, even if the markers are converted to Korg format.
I can accept that there is probably an issue with some files, but the need to reboot the PA is a nightmare, when trying to convert many styles. Error message would be better.
I hope that Korg will propose a converter tool to make the conversion easier:
- instruments revoicing
- marker conversion _________________ Korg PA600, Yamaha MOXF8, Korg nanoKontrol2
