Hello all.

I bought a Kross 88 about 6 weeks ago. All of the sudden neither the headphone jack or the line out is producing sound. I have reset the reloaded the factory settings (I think successfully).

I am afraid that the keyboard is hosed. Is there any settings or controls that can mute the sound?

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable here will post something more useful than this, but if it's both the headphone jack and the main outputs, it sounds like either the volume control potentiometer is the culprit, or ELSE, it could be that your keyboard has received a Midi Volume = 000 (CC #7) Midi Message. I'm not sure if a factory reload would 'fix' that, but I suspect it would....so I'm gonna go with the volume knob issue. Did the unit take a bump on that? It kind of sticks up higher than the rest of the controls, (except the tempo knob) so it might have taken a hit when it was last moved...

tommymandel has raised some good points,

Make sure you look at the back of your keyboard, and carefully see that all the cables are in their correct spots. If your damper pedal is accidentally plugged in the footswitch jack who knows if that will mute the Korg. Take a moment to unplug and plug all cables back in.

Do you have a volume pedal plugged in? Try removing that.

Try playing the Kross with nothing plugged in the back, except headphones.

Are you using batteries or the AC adaptor?

It seems odd that "all of a sudden" it would stop working - were you programming at the time? (is there a global CC#7 parameter)

Something similar happened to me!

The sound on my TRITON LE just plain doesn't work anymore. One day I used it in the morning, and then in the afternoon the sound outputs didn't work.

I have tried all the outputs together and separately and I double checked the damper pedal and tried it unplugged.

No luck, and I need my keyboard for my job... I'm a music teacher.

Any help?

No sound
□ Are connections made correctly to your amp, mixer, or
headphones? → p.18
□ Is the connected amp or mixer powered-on, and is its
volume raised?
□ Is Local Control turned on?
• In G-MIDI> BASIC, check the Local Control On check
box. → p.99□ Could the VOLUME knob be turned all the way to the

□ If a specific timbre does not sound in Combination mode,

I hadn't thought of suggesting that.

I haven't bumped the volume knob and I don't think anyone else has.

I don't have any midi equipment to plug in so I don't think I could have sent a mute signal to it.

I am working my way through the items in the troubleshooting guide but so far no luck.

Thanks for all the responses. At this point I think my daughter's friend may have been pushing a bunch of buttons randomly.

I tried resetting it to defaults, but no luck. The amp works fine, and I've changed cords.

Please let me know if you come up with any further ideas.

ajh - can you swap it for a new one?
as suggested above, can you check that in GLOBAL - Local Control = ON?

Couple other things you could try to see if theres a real problem with the output jacks/circut:

1. Pull up the audio recorder on the Kross and start pressing keys. You should see a reading on the Input meter. If you don't, then its because the internal sounds are not being triggered by the keys. If you do but you dont hear anything, then you know theres a problem with the output circut. You could also try playing back a wav file in the kross. Or loading one of the demo songs in the sequencer and playing it to see if you get sound.

2. You could try to hook an external midi keybaord to the kross and see if you can trigger it that way.

I was able to verify that local control is on.

Since I can't find anything else, I will try to get it replaced I guess. I will also try the other suggestions if I have all of the pieces and can figure out how.

You said you reloaded the factory sounds. Have you tried reinstalling the firmware from Korg support? That might put it back into the default state.
