....just brought a PA900 (also have a Tyros 4)....I was most disappointed with the piano(s) on the Tyros and spent ages with 'tweaking' and downloading other peoples attempts... in the end I got 'something' like an acoustic piano.....
...Had a chance to buy a used PA PA900 and thought 'why not'...
Much improved rhythms and styles over the Tyros but again the piano(s) sound like a £50-00 Casio....any ideas as to how to improve ?

These Pianos which sound really nice are very detailed using 20 oscillators, 2 sets of stereo multisamples, 6 levels of filtering for seamless expression together with all the RX damper resonance and key effects - all in 15mb.
Credit to Antony Sharmman for making the Steinway (I have added a few variations to give different levels of brightness).
Unzip the set and load it to your Pa900/Pa3x. By default the 8 pianos will load to the first 8 slots in User 1 sounds but you can choose where to put them by choosing Open (rather than load) and drill down to the sound name then load individually).

I'm a very new 'Korgist'.... not sure of how to load and play new samples on the PA900....

Can anyone please explain how to do this..?

Only had the PA900 for 48 hours and still getting round to understanding the OS - am so used to using the Yamaha system....

Its simple. Download the file, unzip the file (on PC you can unzip by right-clicking and choose Open with...Windows explorer), copy the unzipped file (it should have .set as the file extension, so will be Steinway8.Set) to a USB stick.
Now plug your USB stick into your Pa900 and press the Media button. With the Load Tab now touch the little down arrow toward the bottom left (HD) and change it to USB. Find your .set folder (Steinway8) and select Load.
Eight Steinways will load to User 1 Sounds which will be presently empty given that your keyboard is new.
You choose these sounds by going to User 1 Sounds.

..Reuben..thanks for the info...loaded in a treat...a couple of them I really liked.

Now - another question...

How do i put the Steinway into MY SETTING so I can pick it up at anytime...

Then I want to put the Steinway into various jazzy styles with Steinway at UPPER 1
and also on LH (LOW) but an octave down....

Then save these new modified styles as NEW ..

A lot of question I know....

If I open the steinway8.set I find two Folders. A PCM- and a Sound-Folder.

What about the PCM-files?
Are they automatically loaded when I load the entire set?
What if I want to load the sounds individually to store them in different user locations? Do I have to load the PCM-Files seperatelly or will each individuel Sound loaded with the corresponding PCM-file automatically?

PCM will load automatically and will load only once no matter if you choose one or all of the sounds. You do not need to load PCM seperatly.

Polyphony usage is no different than the Grand RX piano. The first 12 oscillators are velocity range limited so that only 2 are being used at any one time. Like the GrandRX other oscillators trigger on pedal and key release etc. I should have been clearer in my description but be assured polyphony use is no higher.

Dont fall for the winzip con. Windows has an extractor built into Windows Explorer. Just Right Click the file and choose Open With....Windows Explorer.
