|
|
When I start the intro, with synch star, ,there seems to be always a couple of notes missing before it start. However, when you press stop and than restart it seems to be OK. Any reason for that and is there a way to stop this from happening? _________________ The only stupid questions are the questions that have not been asked.

Most arrangers suffer from this to one degree or another...
The problem basically boils down to the arranger's style (or an SMF) sending a TON of setup data (PC/32/00 codes, effects codes, and editing sys-ex) on the EXACT tick you want it to sound as well. The end result is often either a hiccup in timing, or missing notes. Especially if there's any sys-ex, which cannot be broken up and needs to be sent as one string, it can disrupt timing badly, at times (depends on how much is being sent).
The only REAL solution is to add a beat of silence at the start of the Intro, which will allow the codes to not clash with the notes... But of course, you'll have to use the Start button or footswitch unless you can get away with playing a beat early.
Or... as you have already found, start and then QUICKLY stop the arranger (before those first notes sound), then do it a second time playing the sync start.
Because MIDI is a serial protocol (each byte gets sent one after another) trying to do too much all at the same time can be a problem. The MMA is working on a newer, high speed MIDI protocol over USB, but seem to be taking their own sweet time about it! Until codes get sent out a LOT faster (and synths and samplers respond faster!), the problem is with us to stay. |

Thank you very much for the clarification. Glad to know that I am not the problem. It would be nice if there was a time delay for the synchro start, a small delay. MMMMMMM, something they may could incorporate in their next OS upgrade, since everybody is obvisiouly effected by it.
Thanks for you answering me, Diki. _________________ The only stupid questions are the questions that have not been asked.

Personally, I think the solution is for the arranger to pre-send the setup data as soon as the Intro (or style) is selected if in Synchro Start mode. As it does not sound at all, there's no reason why it couldn't be sent immediately the Performance or Songbook entry is called up. That would, in effect, be the same as you quickly hitting stop after you start it before the first note sounds, which fixes the problem now.
How about it, Korg? |

I totally agree with you. This would be the solution for the problem.
Good Call. _________________ The only stupid questions are the questions that have not been asked.
