Hi everyone,

I've a big problem and hope you can help me. My band is playing all songs with click an and a few songs also with backings from the Kronos.
Our drummer plays a Roland TD30. So he uses the metronom of this machine.

The Kronos is connect to the Roland TD30 drum module with a midi cable. Kronos out, Roland in. Master is the Kronos.

What works? The tempo. All changes at the Kronos were send to the TD30.
But if I use the sequenzer mode and press the play button, the time signature of the TD30 changes to 15/16, whatever it was before.
But that's not the only problem. The clicks of the two machines are not synct anymore.
That means, the TD30 doesn't react to the sequenzer of the Kronos.

We used this a long time and it worked fine. I really don't know what we changed that it doesn't work this time.

I hope someone of you has a good idea.

Greets from Germany!
Thorsten

Is the TD30 drum module generating its own clock? It should not be. Only one device in a MIDI system can generate clock and since the Kronos is the Master in this case, it should be transmitting clock to the TD30 drum module. Check the settings on the TD30 drum module and ensure that the clock is set to external. If it is set to internal it will have conflicts with the clock being generated by the Kronos.

Check page 84 of your TD30 drum module manual. It describes how the TD30 drum module syncs to external MIDI devices.

Hi,

the TD30 is slave and the clock is set to external. That's the problem.

Hi,

I solved the problem this morning.
After reseting the TD for the second time all was fine.

I don't know the problem, but if this is a solution it's ok for me.

Best regards

You might want to check the MIDI filters on the Kronos. It might be sending a CC that the TD doesn't recognize. When I MIDI external devices to the Kronos I filter everything that the external device doesn't need to "see".
