I'm just catching up here.. I am starting to use Cubase 8 Elements and the marker concept is new to me for playback.
Are you saying if the 'v4cv3' marker for example is in the SMF0 file you can jump to it somehow whilst playing? Using the variation keys?

SMF0 files (Midi Files) and STYLE files are two different types of files. Markers in the STYLE file are used by the PA System for Intro/Variation/Fill/Break/Ending control when playing a style. That said, if you have a Korg PA that can export a complete STYLE to a MIDI, you could load that MIDI as a SONG and use the MARKERS for cue points using the MARKER button on the new machines. Not very useful in my opinion.
You can however load a MIDI file and add MARKERS to file with the MARKER function in the new machines. You could also add markers with a DAW. I think this is very useful for live performance where you need to navigate around a song in real time.
