It's great to see more video's on Hololens.

I'm quite excited about all this now that I actually understand what VR feels like rather that what I thought it was like from reading about it, thanks to Oculus.

From a musical point of view this VR technology is going to open up new doors too. There's a song called Surge that can be downloaded for Oculus Rift and it's like being inside the mind of the musician. The experience is so much more than just the song. The visual aspect is all linked to the music in perfect time, and you truly feel inside and apart of it the entire experience.

I can't explain it. You would have to experience it as it's so much more than just listening to music or a video. So much more that it's impossible to explain. You simply have to experience it.

Regards
Sharp.

Will the hololens displace the oculus, in your opinion?

I'd guess that they will both be successful or be able to use the same software somehow?

The potential for virtual learning or collaborations seems almost limitless.

I would think they are two very different products right now offering two completely different experiences and uses.

Microsoft “Augmented Reality” will likely go unchallenged for many years to come unless someone else has been secretly working on their own version for the last 8 years too. It will be more of a practical tool too, for work and so on. It has the potential to reinvent the PC but they need to get it to the market with lots of great apps and push hard for the next few years to make it a success.

Oculus “Virtual Reality” on the other hand is a guaranteed success, but for “who” is the question. There's no doubt in my mind it's the future of entertainment, but Oculus are in for some major competition. There are others developing their own headsets, even SONY has Project Morpheus which is intended for use with Playstation.

Regards
Sharp.
