KP1 - Output Issues

Hello! As part of preparing for a live-gig I decided to blow dust off my old KP1 and use it for the tape-delay. Tested it out last night by hooking a monosynth to the line in RCA, and line-out to mixer. Through the line-out there is an incredibly loud humming distortion, with dry/wet signal barely ...

What about unison mode? s**t, I just saw I wrote "poly 1/2" instead of unison modes 1&2 in my above reply, sorry! Something interesting happened while pitchbending using the joystick and pressing eight keys simultaneously.. Basically when I bent it a half step there was an audible "shift" where it ...

Asking again: Is it the same thing with all programs? I've gone through things again. In Poly 1 mode the synth will play a detuned sixth note per 8 notes played. In Poly 2 mode it will only detune when eight keys are pressed at once (the sixth being detuned). In Poly 1 and Poly 2 modes I can't seem ...

When you first turn the DW-8000 on, how many key presses does it take before the detuned note is heard? (This is not necessarily the eighth one, even if from that point forward it repeats every eight presses.)
Done this just now, its the 6th.

Wow, thanks for further replies guys!

By now I had decided to take it back to the store, but decided to have a look at this thread again, and voila! It keeps delivering interesting things.

@Synthjoe, I´ll do some more tests along what you've suggested and report back.

Thanks again!

Half-step.

yeah good point...i would think it is an oscillator problem...but it is so regular that it seems like a setting rather than a malfunction.... That is what makes this so strange and why I'm hesitating to take it in for what could be an expensive repair. If it was mechanical failure I would expect it ...

You mean the arpeggiator? I've been thinking that, but surely it would have been resolved by my tape loads? Or?

If you're not aware of them, two websites that cover the DW-8000: http://www.pallium.com/bryan/dw8000.php http://www.dw8000.com/ Both the user and service manuals, as well as WAV files that can be used in place of tape loading, are available there. Thanks for the links, but sadly I've already ...

billbaker wrote:When you say the 8th note are you speaking chromatically (1/2 steps) or diatonically (do-re-mi-etc.)
I mean every 8th key, as in if I press a key seven times the eight time I press it it's detuned.

Hi guys, and thank you for all the responses! last night I did a tape-load, when that didn't work I fully deleted all banks and did it again and still no dice. But as I said earlier this only occurs in Poly 1 mode, so I'm still hesitating as to whether this is hardware, but I'm leaning towards ...

Korg DW 8000 - Every eighth note pressed is a lower pitch?

Hi all! I recently got a second-hand DW-8000 and its wonderful! The previous owner erased all the factory patches and replaced them with some terrible "slides" on ALL banks. Thats fine with me, gives me a blank sheet to program my own! However there is a problem. While playing I noticed something ...

"61 Keys of Death pt. II: the DW-8000 and the Norwegian

Hello! I recently got sick of living without a proper synth after selling my CZ1 two years ago, and a reasonably priced Korg DW-8000 just fell into my lap. I'm slowly getting re-acquainted with the theory behind synthesis... and I realize I've kinda forgotten a lot and maybe never REALLY learnt ...
