Farewell Friends
Yesterday I traded in my trusty Krome 61 for a MODX7. I have mixed feelings because the Krome has been so good to me for 7 years. It’s really a great keyboard, and I feel like I’ve wrung every bit of functionality from it—even getting it to do things it wasn’t designed for like playing my own custom ...

All the parameters can be found in the Krome MIDI Implementation document. Warning: it's extremely dense and requires some study to get at what you want. Navigation tip: search for the phrase "SYSTEM EXCLUSIVE" rather than "SYSEX" to find the relevant sections. I believe the first two parameters you ...

Re: New Krome coming - Few Questions
Once I load the samples in the Krome I can set up which keys trigger them right? Yes Can I use keys in a combination split to trigger them as well? Yes I understand that when I reset the power to the keyboard I need to load the samples again. Is that done automatically as long as the card is ...

@Hans1966: The original version of Krome is able to support custom audio samples for playback. You use a PC or Mac to record them in .WAV or other formats, then use the Kromatic tool to load them onto an SD card, which is read into Krome memory at boot time. Search this forum for more info about ...

I was guessing your point was about it being hard to manipulate the screens if your fingers are a little larger in a time critical environment such as live gigging Yes, it _is_ hard--and I don't think of my fingers as being oversized! I tried using one of those pens with a conductive rubber cap and ...

Anything you can do using the touch screen you can do using buttons on the Krome.. Really? How about changing individual channel volumes in a combi? How about transposing key or tuning up/down? Change keyboard split/overlay? Don't get me wrong, I love the Krome and have used it live for many years ...

Jeff, you have my sympathy w/r/t using Krome for live performance. Some of the design decisions are truly maddening, like who thought that using a touch screen to change programs would be easy for anyone with normal-sized fingers, and during a live song??? It's caused me to try all kinds of work ...

For a couple of reasons, you're going to need a separate interface to do what you want. Kenton makes one that's a little pricey, here's a link.
You can also jury-rig one with a Raspberry Pi. Here's a good article about it. Pay particular attention to the info about alsa.

Re: Help needed using Krome Workstation Live
Hi Paul, I've been using my Krome 61 on live gigs for about 4 years now and after a lot of experimentation I've found that a good way to do it is to use Sequencer Mode. Set up each song you play as a different Sequence (name each Sequence with the song name,) with the different programs (sounds) you ...

Dan is right, use Copy From Program to get all the IFX, MFX, etc., settings in Combi mode. However, I've noticed that when I use the same trick in Sequencer Mode, each time I copy a new program to a different track, I lose the IFX, MFX, TFX, etc., settings for the previous program. Is that because ...

Not sure why you'd want to do this (the Krome USB port works just fine with a PC) but if you really want to... Are you using one of the cheap, Chinese-made MIDI-to-USB cables? My suggestion is to get a name-brand cable instead. I've had a couple of the cheap ones and they don't work properly, i.e ...

Is there a way to go back to 1.0.3 if 1.0.4 breaks something? I use Krome to play my own samples using Kromatic (see this thread for how to do it) and since it uses non-supported stuff I want to make sure I can revert to older version if Kromatic doesn't work under 1.0.4.
