The Kronos X came out in, what, 2012? How could they have pre-loaded OS3 on it when it only came out a couple months ago?

Nice to see another bass + keyboard player (sometimes in the same song, for sure). +1 on getting a UPS. I have 2, one for home and one for practice/gigs, since I bring my Kronos back and forth but have all the wiring and a keyboard stand in place at both places so that I can cut down on setup time ...

I also would have liked to have the downloads separate... seems like it would've been better for both Korg's servers and to Kronos owners to un-bundle that 5.2 GB download into separate packages. Like others, I already own the Funk and Soul brass... but I guess in order to enjoy the new KRS-07 ...

In your Combi, go to the Timbre/Parameter tab.

Set the MIDI channel of each track to match what track 1 says (most likely MIDI channel 1).

That should make your single channel MIDI file play all of the tracks in your combi.

Since you don't need the Kronos to be a master to the EX5, it seems to me like you already have all you need then. You're only missing Kronos OUT to the laptop... so just plug a USB cable from the Kronos to the laptop. Voila. You have your 2 INs on your laptop this way... one with a DIN MIDI ...

Wait a minute, there might be an even more elegant solution. FC300 ==> EX5 (merge) ==> Kronos ==> PC (via USB). (You did not mention in the OP of needing the Kronos to control the EX5.) This assumes MIDI over USB is merged. Probably too good to be true. Leaving work now to go try at home...

Derek, I'm not at my Kronos atm, but I had a thought that might work for you. Basically, what you need is an extra MIDI IN in order to achieve what you want, if I understand your goals correctly. Besides your EX5, the PC you connect to can also provide an extra MIDI In and MIDI merge capabilities ...

Derek, can you split the MIDI chain using THRU from either the EX5 or Kronos?

FC300 ==> EX5 (in) ==> (merge) ==> Kronos (thru) ==> laptop

Alternatively, you could purchase another tier for your keyboard stand and bring the Novation back into service...

No dropout or stuck notes here on mine. Worked perfectly the first time just inserting the USB transceiver directly into the back of the Kronos.

Perhaps you have electrical interference in the immediate area?
