Garfield, The particular example you are describing (017 Jazzy Organ) is actually clipping *after* the CX3 and CX3 effects. The sideband distortion explanation that Jerry gave is a real thing, but does not explain the clipping that you are talking about. Turning down the Main Output: Output Level ...

Why are the strings in the upper octave G6-C8, or even D#6-C8 damped on the SGX-1 piano's? I assume you mean to ask "Why are the strings above G6 UN damped?" All grand pianos allow the highest notes to ring freely with no dampers so that the key off has no effect. This design was adopted by piano ...

Pitch EG / Mod tab: Set OSC 1 Pitch Mod AMS to LFO1. Set the Intensity to 0.02 or so Set LFO1 freq to about 10 in the Step Seq / LFO page, LFO1 tab DONE Several other way to do this as well. Simply using Frequency Offset or Tune in the OSC Basic tab will give you a similar effect. Or go bananas and ...

My 2 cents on DX7 to MOD-7 import and the differences between the two here: http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=195955#195955 Overall, the DX7 import works really well especially considering the differences in many of the internal details like EGs, velocity scaling, key scaling ...

As Dan mentioned, the SGX-1 and EP-1 both use the release velocity feature in Kronos. The SGX-1 uses release velocity internally, of course. The EP-1 also uses release velocity to control it's release noise. And, you can use release velocity as an AMS source in this model. Other models don't make ...

when not using the sequencer (i.e. playing 'live') the note release velocity is (probably) equal to the note velocity The release velocity and the key down velocity are distinct and different. You can play with a very quick attack, but a slow release. Or you can play with a very slow attack, but a ...

Using Bounce To Disk will give you the same bits that the Kronos is sending out to the DAC. Try playing the WAV file on the Kronos to see if the WAV file sounds the same as just playing the sequence. (In Disk mode, select the WAV file and press the green play button.) You should also be able to use ...

Re: EQ in CX3
The EQ in the CX3 has flat curves for bass and treble, and an extremely narrow spot for the mid range. I can't imagine that this is how it is intended to work. The EQ in the Amp section of the CX-3 is there to let you tweak the amp tone to your liking. High and Low shelving is standard stuff of ...

The velocity curves in Global mode convert the physical key speed into midi velocity 0 -127. You should also consider the program's response to midi velocity. Even with the same global velocity curve, you can get a very different feel by changing the program parameters like Amp Velocity Intensity ...

Dan Phillips used to have a Synclavier II, but I never used it enough to really get to know how to use it. It did have some great sounds, though. As I recall, the FM oscillators were just 8 bit and you could only do simple carrier modulator pairs. Does that sound right to you, Peter? Also, KingJ has ...
