On the Oasys, the pedal jacks have assignable polarity which is adjusted in Global. I assume the Kronos has a similar setup. I don't have any idea what polarity would be for anything Beringer, but I know that when I use a Roland damper pedal it's the opposite polarity from Korg. That is probably the ...

Six years and I'm on my third reading of the Oasys operating guide and still struggling, but it's getting easier. The temptation at first is just to explore the sounds and when there are almost 2000 of them, that's a big job. Even as a nuclear engineer with both electronics and computer science ...

Nightcrawler. I concur 100%. It's rare in management buyouts that management is the only party with bucks in the deal but innovation & creativity, as you point out, can be the difference between a thriving business that's sprinting and one where funding is too tight (where outside capital is not ...

Sander, It's hard to tell from the information given, but usually when management buys out a company they get a white knight or venture capital to finance it. Not that management won't put some money in on their own, they usual do, but the bulk normally comes from outside pockets. The investors know ...

Lamu,

If you were truly OCD, you'd spell it the proper way, like it is supposed to be: CDO. Hell, everyone knows that!

I've done some of that but I'll go back and do some more. At this point, I think I'm leaning more towards the Kronos X, however. I'm in no great rush and still have plenty of exploring to do on the Oasys. Like most folks, I haven't really scratched much more than the surface of it. I'm also ...

Pepperpotty, Thanks for your comments. Lots to think about in your post. Would I guess correctly that your goal was NOT to perform locally as a small act? It seems to me that is their primary function and intended purpose and perhaps other uses benefit less than live performance of cover tunes. The ...

ed-f, Thanks for the reply. Karma is certainly an amazing thing! Stephen Kay is, IMO, a genius. I keep learning a little bit at a time about it and even have the KO software for it. For me, it's about finding the time. So far, it seems that if I find a groove that appeals to me, I'm off to the races ...

Grec C, Thanks for the reply, I need all the help I can get. I do original song creation that includes pop sounding tunes but also world related things that don't seem to fit in any tune category. For instance, working on one right now called Simba, a lion hunt. So it's all over the map. Did you ...

pedro5, Thanks for the suggestion! I haven't considered the lower level arrangers, but you make a good point and perhaps I should. I tend to want to get the best tool for the job, but when I don't have the experience with that tool, like an arranger, it makes me want to overshoot so I don't look ...

nightcrawler, Thanks for the reply! It's in some ways what I'm leaning towards, but never had my hands on one is giving great pause to spend the bucks on what is to me a virtual unknown. If I were interested in solo or duo local gigging, that would be a different story and no further discussion ...

Thanks for the reply! The Oasys is the product that the Kronos was derived from. There are a few differences, but essentially the Kronos can be thought of as an updated but cheaper Oasys, so I'm a lot more comfortable with what it is than an arranger. I think my dilemma is more that I've never had ...

PA 3 X Arranger or Kronos X?

It's about time for me to add another instrument and I'm seriously stuck choosing between 2 candidates: a PA3 X (or other) arranger or a Kronos X. The ultimate goal is song creation, not playing live in a venue. My thought is to have a tool that enables me to craft the bones of a song more quickly ...

I've been thinking about that for awhile. Seems like the traffic is fairly light here in Oasys land now-a-days. I resisted putting it into the Kronos forum thinking the responses would be overwhelmingly toward Kronos. I also resisted putting it in the arranger forum for the same reason there ...
