I just reconstructed the sound in a way similar to how he did it, although I used software versions of the synths in question (a Native Instruments B4 going into an Arturia 2600). It took a minute or two to set it up with one LFO (triangle or sine) sweeping the VCF and another (square) retriggering ...

Yes, and it would be even better if it was reliable! MainStage? I love MainStage! Mainstage does something I have never seen before in anything else... Intelligent splitting. If you have a splitpoint and play a line with your right hand and go over it it stretches the split point out intelligently ...

It's fine if your live performance is rigid but it can get tricky if there's divergence. I prefer what Yogi Berra once said In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is! I prefer thinking ahead of what I will need once I play live and configure my programs or ...

Re: Performance mode

You called my bluff.....but knowing about this will now save me from having to configure a bunch of presets unnecessarily. It sounds like you wouldn't have been using that prior to this conversation. I know --- but it's hard to do that during a gig :D I suppose if I was a full time musician and ...

I don't know much about it, haven't seen the demos, but played with one briefly in a store last month...I don't care about doing the strings and choirs, but just vocoding my voice. If that part is orders of magnitude better than the Oasys, then I will consider it....but then I'm left to wonder what ...

Re: Performance mode

Well, for things like getting to that Key Transpose field in GLOBAL Basic that you mentioned  I'm not sure what you're using the touch-screen for in a live situation. OK - I knew about calibration but never actually did it (mea culpa). On the other hand, when I'm in a live situation, sometimes ...

I haven't had a chance to play with the vocoder yet (I have to buy a mike) but I've actually been wondering how good it is compared to the new Roland VP-550.

Well, I have a pedalboard that can send program changes...the problem is that if that if you're not at the right place (GUI wise), it won't work!

Meant to include that that performance bank should of course respond to MIDI program changes.

Hope this isn't all wishful thinking though.

I've come to the conclusion that the UI as implemented now is uhmm, not too terrific for live use. A couple of things come to mind immediately: 1) It's quite hard to push on the right place on the screen when you're rushing....I've found I have to use my nail to get more accuracy and even then, I ...

For live performance, combis are incredibly useful. I have a generic combi with acoustic piano, electric piano, strings, choir, and brass. Using the sliders to adjust the volumes of each of those sounds, often just having one on at a time, is extremely convenient, and often easier than messing with ...

The physically painful part is more likely due to non-organ keyboards not having the "waterfall" design.

I thing the real point here is not whether 76 light is better or worse than 88 heavy....it's about how the feel of an instrument impacts your playing, creativity and inspiration.
