I think back to the early eighties, (when I was still a child playing the piano), when I walked into a musicstore with my older cousin and just saw for the first time in my life a real synthsizer, in form of an Oberheim OB-8, sitting in front of me, ready to be played. I carefully touched one key ...

Hmm - mine are warm to the touch and sounded plasticy when I tapped my finger nails on it. I have had the end caps off before and I remember them as being lighter than you think (but didn't spend time finding out if they were metal or not). If you've touched the left side panel, while your OASYS ...

cello wrote:...I think the end caps are plastic-based and not metal.
To me they seem to have a plastic kernel (which is visible from the inside), but the coating appears to be of metal. The thermic capacity indicates a metal material to me (which means, it's cold when you touch it). But I could be wrong...

Of course the hardware consists of PC components (and not the cheapest ones!), but the whole software structure is completely different. I was just wondering if the fan speed (which increases with more CPU load) is determined in the same way as with a regular PC software or if it works different due ...

I will check this later on both of my OASYS. As you, I have to exchange the fan of my older OASYS, because it is louder than the very silent fan of the newer one. Thanks for your hint concerning the temperature, because I am afraid that the temp. on my older OASYS might be the reason why the fan is ...

"SoulBe", das ist eine hervorragende Idee, die ich sehr untertütze! I fully support your idea. As an owner of two OASYS-88, I have a special interest in the future of my babies... BTW: Did anyone ever had to exchange the fan of the OASYS? The fan of my OASYS with the lower serial number was always ...

I find myself a little not envious but wishful regarding some of your guys music qualifications. I know this is completely off topic but I really wanted to say some of the stuff on the forum has been heated but I think we all forget sometimes how blessed we are to have such a beautiful gift and ...

...My conclusion was that there was some sort of allocation of 128 between the upper and solo sets and lower and percussion sets, but without Roland's input I don't know the exact details. ...now, after I already went completely off topic, just one last remark: I think your observations and your ...

You and I both know that's totally wrong - it doesn't work that way. But you are unable to explain who it works, because you have no clue. I am really disappointed about „cello“ and „Bruce Lychee“, who desided to ignore my rational search for the facts on this forum and on Roland Clan. "Cello" just ...

well the max is 64 i guess... kronos wins hands down  You are wrong. My test just showed a limit of max 64 voices for the Upper Liveset, but in total you have of course 256 voices! - so there is a lower liveset aswell??? i didn't understand how roland's live set works.. Maybe you should ...

sorry for making this thread OT...  but does the supernatural piano on the jupiter consumes only 1 polyphony / osc per note??? AFAIK that's not possible on roland machine... for piano a keyboard needs at least 2 osc to make the sound (1 for left and 1 for right)... on kronos, the max ...
