Synth Drums on KRONOS

Does the KRONOS come with any synth drum programs?

If not, what do you think the best engine would be to program 808/909 style toms, hats, etc? (AL-1 vs MS20 vs Poly vs MOD-7).

Samples are nice, but the ability to modulate percussive synth sounds would be better.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Workflow Using Korg Workstation - Writing/Production

There has possibly been a thread covering this in the past, but I could not find one that dug into specifics. I would like to discuss/learn about varying methods of songwriting/production using a Korg Workstation (KRONOS, M3, OASYS, etc). The reason I am posting this in the KRONOS section is that it ...

Though I must say I am very sad about the lack of Cue List, I would assume the "Copy Measure" feature would work very similarly on the KRONOS as it does on the M3. Copy Measure is not near as easy or flexible as the Cue list feature, but if it works the same as on the M3, it would be a usable ...

Hi Dan, I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. While demoing the board, the envelopes and LFO controlled sweeps sounded great. You did your know sweeps much faster than I did mine during my demo. Where I noticed the step is, for example, when I slowly turned the knob changing from 120 ...

I'm sorry, but as I'm sure you'll understand, I can't discuss details of our internal algorithms! Suffice it to say that they work well, and that you can try them out yourself once the KRONOS is in the market (or, before then, on an OASYS). I also understand that your concerns are from the M3; note ...

1) KARMA 3.0
2) "Elastic" Audio
3) User Scales where the notes can be adjusted by more than 1 semitone
4) Hard Drive Mode - access KRONOS hard drive using PC/MAC for easily adding, removing, organizing data
5) Save RPPR Data with Song Templates or loadable RPPR functionality
6) 14-Bit MIDI

Hi OboKeyDrum, Unfortunately, pages 768 & 769only confirm the limitation I described earlier. It is really not that big of a deal. I just get frustrated sometimes about basic things. To me it is basic enough of a feature that it should be included. But such a little thing is not going monopolize my ...

Why the single semitone limitation on user scales?

Am I missing something here? Being able to select a scale or a mode and have all incoming notes routed through it seems to be a basic function by all DAWs and many workstations. Why does KORG still use code written in the 90s for this purpose? You have an implementation of KARMA2 that can ...

How do you use KARMA to program drums?

Sure you could load a factory GE and switch back and forth between scenes... But something give me the feeling that people are being more creative than that. I am curious to hear, how do you, specifically, use KARMA (M3 or OASYS) to record (and perform) drum parts? Thanks in advance for the insight.

OASYS Operation Guide p.9, under "New features in software version 1.2:" Improved parameter smoothing OK, so I get that smoothing is a feature. But what is smoothing? How does it work? Does it matter if the knob is turn fast or slow? The OASYS OG does not elaborate or give any details, other than ...

@Dan or Rich I have a couple questions regarding the Kronos knobs, sliders, joystick, etc (MIDI). Through the grapevine, I have heard that the Kronos can interpolate knob/slider movement to prevent such things as Filter sweep notching/stair stepping. I cannot find any verifiable information on this ...

Korg M3 with KK Audio's A1 Edit Desk

Does anyone have an A1 Edit Desk (http://www.kkaudio.com/A1.html) with their Korg M3 61 in the slide out shelf? KK's online dims show a shelf space of 6.75". Korg's dims show a height of 6.73 with mod up on the 61. That is a very close margin for error. Anyone have first hand experience with this ...

Hi Shakil,

I am glad my NAMM interview with the TE guys was beneficial. It is not something I will use, but it really it quite an impressive piece of hardware, especially for the size!
