For others in the market for an M3 who happen to be reading the thread, I might as well not make it "all about me." I will edit the OP with these links, but, as this sucker has grown 6 pages long and contains a lot good info, I would like to share with other non M3 owners some great resources I have ...

LOL... yeah I agree with you both! Well, it was a Guitar Center, so sadly it wasn't shocking in the least (for those not in North America: GC is a big music store chain based in the US). The ONLY reason I went there is that they had both the M3 AND the XS (soon the XF). I live in the city of Chicago ...

I actually took the Fantom for a spin @ the music store yesterday. I was quite impressed with their screen (a thing of beauty really)... but, alas, the Fantom just doesn't stir the ol' soul for me. I know that sounds silly, but very little about it motivates me to dig in and I am not crazy about ...

Just a thought JTR - (apologies if you've already done it!) - but, you could download the M3 Editor from the Korg website (v2.2.1 just released) and whilst it won't 'do' anything in terms of sound production, it might give you some further insight into what the M3's all about? As I say, just a ...

Jive, Yes, the Chorus block in Motif can load any effect algorithm, but the Reverb block loads only reverb and spatial type effects. Yes, chorus and reverb send levels from each of 16 parts, but only one return level from reverb and chorus to master effect block. Cheers - thanks for clearing that ...

Apex - above and beyond! I really appreciate you trying - you have been an awesome help on this thread, so a virtual beer for you: http://blog.timesunion.com/saratogaseen/files/2008/04/beer.jpg To add to what apex told you, you also can't control the amounts of each individual sound that get sent ...

Re: Moving from DAW to Workstation: Presales Questions (M3 v

[.]I want to invest in my first workstation with the idea that I could compose a whole song on it w/o having to fire up a DAW[..] Is that for some kind of Living in the Past TV show ? ;) I have been using computers to control synths since Opcode Vision and have had a computer based DAW since 2000 ...

Shakil, Thanks a ton for breaking down how the effects systems work on the Roland/Korg/Yamaha workstations... it was very helpful. I feel the Korg approach is the most flexible, but could you clear something up regarding the Motif approach? I know in pattern/song mode the Motif can have a maximum of ...

After reading all of the Radias R versus Radias EXB threads and after seeing how I could use the M3 INs like a mixer when I am sequencing other synths, I am starting to think getting about the actual Radias Rack over the EXB. To those that own a M3 73 + Radias R combo - is there any advantage to ...

^^^That is exactly my plan. My Cubase/NI/Arturia soft synths aren’t going anywhere, but I am looking forward to a new, more compact and immediate workflow as an alternative to my DAW. gjvti, X-Trade, apex, kanthos, kimu, Synthoid - thank you all for replying since my last post. Tremendously useful i ...

1) Quick question after reading the manual. On Page 83 under the Sequencer > MIDI Recording > Track Settings section of the manual it states: "You can copy various settings from Programs or Combinations, including effects, KARMA settings, Tone Adjust, and so on." I know that the combi is copied over ...

cello, apex, shakil, gjvti, kimu, cminor, Synthoid, _joe _ - thank you all for commenting and clearing up some of my questions! It is most appreciated. I watched nearly every M3/M50 video on the Korg USA You Tube page and over @ Kay-Labs last night (the wife was watching "Housewifes" and the baby ...

You can have up to 4 different KARMA patterns along with a separate drum track in combination mode. Keep in mind that KARMA is very different from standard arps... it allows for random events. The Motif offers a great selection of arps out of the box--and you can create your own--but they are very ...

That's good to hear. The demo videos seem to indicate this as well. I see you own an XS (and a Kurz!)... save for greater RAM, what do you feel the XS does better than the M3? Another general question for anyone... I know the Kurz PC3 can run 16 arps and the XF 4 arps... can you run multiple ...
