Do you own an iPad or Nintendo DS? If so, I would recommend to you either the iMS20 or the KorgDS10+. Both are great for learning synth basics. Also theyre both extremely cheap so its a small investment to make towards expanding your knowledge. I do have a DS yeah, and even have nintendo points on ...

That link to "Synth Secrets" I gave you on the previous page should help with programming better organs and strings. I read a few articles, and it went right over my head  I am not sure what a sample-based synth is, when I say I want a sample pad I mean.. Well I think it's called a sample pad ...

Can we tone down the drama a bit? In reading the thread so far the question that hasn't been answered is: What types of sounds are needed for THIS metal band? Are we looking for something more industrial/dark, something more symphonic/goth, classic 70's metal that might need organ, or something ...

You sir, are an idiot. I have now said THREE times. I am not dissing the 8bit sounds. Look back and read it. I in fact love 8-bit music, I actually compose chiptune and listen to chiptune/nintendocore music every single day. That is one reason I asked for a microKorg. I am not asking for hand outs ...

Can I run an mp3 through my MicroKORG

I am wondering if it is possible to run an mp3 player or similar device through my MicroKORG and still be able to play over it? I have set up my mp3 player into it using an 1/8" male stereo audio jack and into the condensor but I can't play over it.

You're implying that it's useless because you don't like the default patches and people aren't simply throwing patches at you. I don't know what your problem is but I don't going around be a dickhead to you. No I don't like most of the default patches, and I'm not some kind of sound professional ...

I am not an expert and it is hard to find good patches on youtube for the MK If you're looking for patches that emulate an acoustic piano, then no, you will find none. And this isn't what I was talking about. The settings that come with the MK aren't the best for the most part. There are a few I ...

Yeah, and once again I was never talking badly about the MicroKORG.

All this talk of synths and workstations is good but the main thing I was trying to ask about was pads, pedals, etc for a live band and nobody has said a word about it.

I am not downing the MicroKORG, I got it for a reason. I am not downing the sounds, I'm just saying it doesn't offer a realistic piano and organ sound. Which are sounds I would like to use for the band. I am not an expert and it is hard to find good patches on youtube for the MK. And thanks all for ...

Thanks, that's a good point.

MicroKORG is good but really 8-bit, analogy sounds. Thanks a lot, I will check into those that you mentioned.

Live synth set-up for metal band

Hey there, new to the forums so sorry if this is the wrong place to be posting this. I have recently been invited to a friends metal band to play synth. I am more of a guitarist, I got a MicroKORG for my graduation a couple years ago and I've played around with it, mostly just learning random things ...
