Haha, yeah, me too! :) There was this small chance that it might have worked without driver updates, but unfortunately no!

I've run out of program banks!

Hi, After loading the EXs3 programs into Program User Bank G, I've completely run out of program banks. I had the MOD-7 programs stored in Program User Bank G and had to overwrite it to audition the new EXs3 programs. User Bank A has the EXs2 programs as well as some programs I've created. I have ...

So there are many performance gains that can be realized. As noted earlier, not without changes to the OASYS software. I see the situation more clearly Dan. :) I was just responding to mdh's comments to highlight that there have been some changes factored into the architecture to mitigate the ...

Not quite true, as we've discussed before on various hardware-upgrade musing threads, adding multiple cores introduces other issues you need to thoroughly examine, for example the Intel chips have small caches and use cache sharing amongst the cores so context switching can introduce latency issues ...

I think that if you do want to stockup on the AOpen MX4GVR motherboard, it's best to order one through a Korg authorized dealer. The only other component that you might want to stock up on is a spare CPU. You can also stock up on a spare set of hard drives. I would recommend that you get two 2.5 ...

So while this may be a fun diversion for you, it is relatively meaningless. For sure, :), I debated on whether I should try this, and knew from the start that it probably wouldnt work. But, I couldn't help myself, there was a small chance that the chipset might have been legacy compatible with the ...

I do believe we have stated many times that you couldn't just change out the processor and expect any performance benefits unless the whole OASYS software system was optimized for that processor. Not Linux codes and drivers, but the whole synthesis system. Actually, Jerry, the Core 2 Duo ...

The total cost of the upgrade was USD$330. This includes the: a. Gigabyte motherboard b. Intel E4500 2.2GHz 800MHz FSB Core 2 Duo processor 3. Kingston 1GB DDR2 667MHz x 2 for a total of 2GB. I could have gone with an 800MHz DDR2 DIMM, but that would have been more expensive for this experiment ...

Disassembling the OASYS and getting to the motherboard was not difficult. Here are the steps: 1. Open up the two screws on the LH and RH side of the OASYS, lift the LCD display up and open up the motherboard, as outlined in the memory upgrade procedure. Remove the memory cover plate. 2. Remove the ...

Feasibility experiment upgrading OASYS to Intel Core 2 Duo

Hi, I tried updating the motherboard on the OASYS to an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and found that it's technically possible, but I need to update the linux kernel to get it to work. The linux sources are there on the CDROM, but I don't have the appropriate make files and compiler settings to rebuild ...
