The onboard sequencer is not going to be a good tool for laying down quick ideas on the fly. I use an outboard sequencer and do as much as I can there, then painstakenly get it all loaded into a Kronos song. But there are lots of great tools for sorting out ideas on the fly via Karma. It's not an ...

Combi is the way to do it. AFAIK, the only type of program that allows splits is the CX3 engine, but then you have upper and lower tonewheel organs - no way to do other sounds. It's pretty easy in both Combi and Song modes, however. Just set up any sounds you want to play to the Global Channel, and ...

The "cliff notes" version is this: In a combi or song, any track that is assigned to the global MIDI channel will be triggered by the local keyboard. If you stopped there, they would be layered. You create splits by going to the keyboard zone and setting the upper and lower key range for each part ...

Don't know if this is related, but I have seemingly random issues with stuck notes when using M Audio sustain pedals on my Kronos, but not any other pedals that I own. In that case though, if notes stick, I can step on the pedal a few times and they stop. I've got 2 M audio sustain pedals and they ...

Are you preloading the 913.KSC, or the 913user_bank.KSC file? 913.KSC will load those samples into RAM, THEN loading more with append should add to the existing. If you're using the user_bank file, which allows for streaming from HD, they won't show up, and if you add samples and save, you'll only ...

I believe the issue you are referencing is when an external keyboard plays the same note and a note off stops a note being held on the Kronos (not another engine). I actually could only make that happen on midi channel 15 so I don't even find this an issue. For me it also was not a CX-3 issue but a ...

The other credible issue, confirmed buy several and looking into by Dan, is a CX3 issue where notes are cut off when voices are played on another engine on a different channel. That would be a deal breaker in my rig. The rest are not necessarily tied to the OS version, only by speculation - song ...

Upgrade 2.1?
I always wait to upgrade because it seems like there are always bugs, and I can't afford to be down and/or lose work. There have been a number of posts on here lately regarding issues perceived to be related to upgrading to 2.1. I understand some may not be related, but some seem feasibly related ...

I use one of those "power strip" style UPS's and run my Kronos, a controller, and my rack gear off of it and have had it keep my stuff on for a good solid 10 min or so when stage power went dead. Just don't run any amps/monitors off of it (although I once ran the Kronos and a K10 off of it for a ...

Keyboard stands are a subject that get a lot of discussion and differing opinions on various forums, primarily because different people have different needs. Whenever anybody asks about stands, I ask the following questions: 1) How often will you set up, tear down, and transport? 2) 1, 2, or more ...

I should have clarified, I didn't mean RAM memory, I meant SSD space. But that brings up another question, since you can stream samples now, is there any real difference doing an audio track vs samples, from both a storage space and RAM standpoint? Just trying to be as efficient as possible so I can ...
