How to import your sampled instruments stereo SF2 in Pa5X

After OS v.1.3 Pro Sound developers have anymore the ability to import correctly their work created with advanced samplers like Kontakt
converting them to stereo SF2 format (not to monophonic SF2 of awave studio) to real single stereo layer MS and not a pair of L/R MS.

Pa5X can support multi instruments/layers Stereo SF2 import using Complete Bank option in import of SF2 and relative multisamples will
be created after importing , saving time of re-arranging keys mapping in case of individual or batch of Wav/Aiff imported samples.

But there are still some bugs related to buffer memory described here http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... 326#834326
and there is sample duration limit of up to 10.9 seconds else one Left channel will be destroyed , so be sure that all imported samples will
not exceed that 10,9 sec or 524.287 binary info limit.

Hope this helps

That is great info Antony, I wasn't aware that SF2 now works in os1.3
the 10.9 limit makes sense considering the mono 21.8 limit.

thanks for sharing!

Qui , 21.8 sec is the overall duration/length accepted mono or stereo see photo https://i.imgur.com/ggs62po.jpeg
If you import a single stereo sample of 21.7 sec duration , it works just fine so SF2 conversion has an issue !

Anthony what do you use to create the stereo SF2? I use the editing features of awave, extreme sample converter, and recording from samplerobot but it always seems to export as separated channels instead of interleaved.

You can use the "new" tx16wx format for stereo multisamples in Awave Studio.

I do not create SF2 , I work with Kontakt as VST developer , I convert to SF2 only in case of importing MS in Pa5X/Kronos.

Best way for creating instruments in such tools is SFZ format and AFAIK ESC can manage to export stereo SF2 from any imported stereo format.
Maybe polyphone SF2 editor could be a good option for you !

As concerned to other paid software tools advertised for Korg , are completely out from picture !

Antony, thank you for starting this thread. It has long been my wish to add a few of my favorite VST synth sounds and a few Asian ethnic instruments to my Korg PA5x (for personal use only). What software do you recommend for doing that? What is ESC? And when you say "other software tools advertised for Korg are out from picture", are you referring to TX16WX, Awave, Sample Robot? Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

My topic's reference is how to import SF2 in Pa5X , crystal clear , there are a lot of SF2 around many Music websites.
Also SF2 format is the proper one for inserting real stereo MS in Pa5X.

For resampling VST there are a lot of tutorials , Sharp (forum owner) had made a wonderful tutorial in Kronos section over 10 years ago
with Extreme Sample Converter , also Qui had recently made one bright tutorial about resampling with Sample Robot , browse and study them.

Here is an example of SF2 import https://www.mediafire.com/file/f86s566s ... e.rar/file

In this folder you can find a Sf2 of a stereo Harp (Do not exist as real stereo in Pa5X) that you can DIY and a
KST folder with developed imported Harp in SOUND & KBD set format.

It works fine in any Pa5X under OS v.1.3 , KST set was made from this SF2.

Just in case , I downloaded SF2 from my link , and was imported fine in Pa5X !
Therefore you do not do it correctly !

Workflow is simple , copy SF2 in a USB drive and place it at Pa5X front USB Port.
- Go to REC/EDIT > Sample Edit > MENU > Import/Export , select import : SoundFont (SF2) , browse for Harp.SF2
from USB drive , Press Execute and then Import TAB
- Done

In case you had used import for another non compatible SF2 , restart and try again.
