Any chance to have the possibility for Oasys to read other "foreign" sample format than the obsolete S1000/S3000?
An upgrade to the S5/6000 series would be enough.
But Halion, Reaktor, Gigasampler, EXS24 to name few would also be welcome, especially for those who work in Logic or VST environment and would like to get some load off the pc/mac.
Program convertions might be the most simple possible, or even ignored.
The most important thing would be retaining the original sample mapping.

change to midi recording and inst.
I would like to have multi instrument on the same midi channel assignments and ability to record multi midi channels to a track.

TONE ADJUST SUGGESTIONS - EASY SUGGESTIONS FOR OS 2.0
Tone adjust is so so flexible, almost so much so that it actually makes the control of EXis harder than maybe it should be. I have a couple of thoughts around its current implementation and have made some (incremental) suggestions as to how (I think) it maybe improved relatively easily.
- the first issue relates in a way to its flexibility, as one of the benefits of a dedicated control surface is you like to go to it and have memorised immediately what all the buttons do. Eg turn on an AL-1 and the tone adjust buttons all behave in a similar way - turn on an MS-20EX and they all behave in a similar way. However as lots of the programs are customised differently, the results of pressing the same button, moving the same slider vary from program to program.
- the second issue arises as there are 2 EXi, but often the tone adjust settings mainly relate to the first one, leaving few controls for the 2nd one. Or the number and layout of controls is again changed (sometimes substantially) to allow a number of parameters of the second EXi to be controlled.
SUGGESTED IMPROVEMENTS.
1) Implement a tone adjust setting in global for each EXi and HD1. So on a global page you can set up how you would like to control the MS-20EX, the AL-1 etc. This would use all the same options as the current tone adjust so each button is customisable to the current list of options for controlling that particular synth.
2) On that global page implement a check box "Overide custom tone adjust settings [ ]". If this is switched on then the first EXi takes its tone adjust settings from the global page.
Now each time you load a new instrument with only one EXi, it will behave in exactly the same way. MS-20EXs will all be controllable the same way, likewise AL1 instruments. However you haven't lost the ability to customise this control surface to your particular preference.
3) [To extend this to the second EXi - slightly more advanced]. Have it so that if you press the tone adjust button a second time then it edits the second EXi - again loading the settings for that particular EXi from the global page.
You could perhaps indicate to the user that the second EXi was being controlled by flashing the tone adjust light. Or by having a small label on the touchscreen saying "T1" or "T2" maybe in the header line to indicate when in tone adjust mode and which EXi was being controlled.
4) [An alternative implementation of the same concept].
Instead of having the checkbox on the global page to turn on these global tone adjust settings, implement that the tone adjust button cycles between 3 different sets of tone adjust settings. When a program is first loaded the tone adjust settings control EXi1 as per the global settings, when tone adjust is touched again the settings control EXi2 as per the global settings and when pressed a third time, the layout changes so that the buttons match the current (customisable per program) settings controlling both the Exi1 and the Exi2 at the same time. Pressing the tone adjust button again takes you back to the beginning controlling EXi1 via the global settings.
Again you could indicate to the user which state it was in by the state/colour of the tone adjust light. 1) steady light, 2) slow flashing light 3) faster flashing light. Or you could have a small label on the touchscreen saying "T1", "T2" "TA" for the 3 different states.
To me at least this would make the control of instruments much easier via tone adjust more intuitive, faster to use, and easier.

EXTERNAL MIDI CONTROL - EASY SUGGESTIONS FOR OS 2.0
As per my tone adjust suggestions, I think these suggestions are easily added but will take the OS to the next level.
- Firstly a name per setup; so you can choose "Reason" or "Absynth" rather than Setup 00 or Setup 33. Otherwise you end up having to keep your own list of which each one does.
- Secondly customisable labels per external setup. It drives me a little mad that you have to remember for each setup what each midi CC number does. There's space under the midi CC number for at least a 9 letter label per control (although this could be lengthened to 18 letters if the channel was put on the left of dial symbol and the CC number on the right).
Then you could easily see that moving dial 3 moves "resonance" rather than changing midi CC 87. This would make it so much better for controlling soft synths, external gear.
- Thirdly for the buttons, two numbers (from 0-127) beneath the buttons which determine the numbers transmitted when the button is turned on an off (similar to what is already done on tone adjust but extended to two numbers rather than 1).
- Fourthly [this is more advanced and I can easily live without but this is the top standard]. The ability to chose a string of midi messages to transmit when a button, dial is moved as per the implementation on the virus TI. If the TI can do it then it should be easy for the OASYS.
Lastly, and please refer to this thread. It would be great if a filter to stop the transmission of certain midi messages upon changes between global, program, and seq start and stop messages could be added to the global page. I think there are quite a few users combining an Oasys and a Virus and this addition would very much help the setup of the two. [ I know that Access could also add a filter, but despite requests they haven't for OS2.0 and its prob easier to add on the OASYS than on the Virus]

I'm "just browsing" around here to keep me updated.
KARMA is one of the main wonderful features of this machine and it has a big library of over 2000 GEs, but as I know is not possible to create and save own GEs.
In the previous KORG machines (like TRITON) is possible to create and save your own arpegggiator patterns.
I know that is possible to modify the present GEs in thowsands of ways and this already give infinite possibilities.
But sometimes people need to have different patterns, create your own and save it as one more possible GE should be allowed.
Teorically, KARMA could import a Standard MIDI file (not too long, of course) or record a pattern driven by an external sequencer. Imagine.![]()
This feature is also discussed in KARMA-LAB

In the LAC-1 EXi I would like two options :
1) The ability to make the editing resolution coarser when using the alpha wheel. Currently the only way to conveniently edit programs is to use the value slider or type in values with the numeric keyboard (which is what I do mostly now).
2) The ability to instantiate a Polysix/MS20 EXi with a properly initialized program like the AL-1 or STR-1. It's a pain having to manually initialize the MS20 and Polysix settings each time you add one to a program.
Both of these things are inconsistent with the way that the rest of the Oasys EXi work ... it would be nice to have let us have the option to change the behaviour in both cases so that the user experience is consistent across EXi.
Thanks,
D.

If the plan is to stick with Tone Adjust as the only way of working with Programs in Combi/Seq mode, I would like to see Korg provide more programs to better accomodate that way of working. Especially for the AL-1 ... we need sounds that are rather less specific. Something more like template or base sounds that can then be adjusted using TA.
Thanks.

When editting a Program and it's associated Wavesequence or Drumkit, switching between Global and Program modes changes the currently active page/tab in Program back to the front. I would like to this changed so that it remembers the page you were looking at in Program mode.

LOL
One doesn't like to seem too demanding.
I must take a look through the wishlist later and see if anything in it has been added yet, out of curiousity. I am sure Poly Unison was on the wish list and added.
Overall my biggest wish is to see the Oasys become a little less "serendipitous" to work with, with regards to program and GE selection. I'd rather have facilities that let me be more directly creative rather than lucky
Hence the suggestions above.
