VIF4 - Video Interface Board

Post by Paula »

Hi All
I,ve been thinking about getting the VIF4 video interface card..... Has any one installed this accessory and how well does it work ? I haven't been able to find any reviews on this item and really would like some input before I make the purchase.
Thanks so much and I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year.

Hi Paula
Yes, I use the VIF4 video interface board, had it for a over a year, and it works great. I have it hooked up to a 7" monitor. I display the lyrics from songbook, and use the EC5 to scroll pages. Its nice to have lyrics on monitor and somthing else on kb display, e.g. songbook list. If the setting is external video you will get some more text on the external monitor than on kb display. No problems so far. :D

Hi Skude,

Do you also use this when playing styles? And do you also have chords between the text lines?
Don't you think that you have to scroll many times during a song / how many lines with chords are on one page.

I tried it with the VIF 3 card on PA1xpro, but it did only show about 7 text lines on one page (too less for suitable working for me, that time) on a 7 inch ext. TFT.

Indeed it works when the text rolls synchron to a midifile or MP3, in that case, you don't have to scroll yourself.

Hi reneNL
I only play live using styles, I have about 200+ lyrics in my songbook. All lyrics are linked to a style ready to go. I use the external screen to show the txt file. I know most of my songs and don't use a line for chords. Sometimes if I need to remember chords in a song I just write the chord in the lyrics. My 7" tft monitor shows 10 lines using small characters and set to external video.

Hi Skude,

Forgot to ask: how many characters fit in one line?
And, what kind of font do you see, is it a courier font type?

Hi reneNL
As far as I can see, or count, 45 characters (small) counting spaces. I don't know the fonts buts it looks like the PA800 only shows one type font. I have tried different fonts on the computer but it ends up beeing the same one that shows on the PA800. Would be nice to have other fonts but it's a minor problem for me, just happy to get rid of that book (lyrics)
People keep asking how I can remember all my lyrics, they don't see any papers on my kb. I just tell them I have a good memory

Hi Skude,

It would indeed be nice to have a condensed font.
I counted the longest line of characters, in a Lyrics file on my computer.
I counted 71 pieces.

Maybe I'll get the chance to test it at my local dealer.

I have bought the vif3 board in my PA1xpro, and have never used it.
So I first want to test it.

Greetings,
