An old piece cleaned up and resubmitted...Ant Battalion

Post by jazlover »

This is the 1st piece I ever did on my D1600. I submitted it a few years back but the recording was terrible. I still stink at recording but here it is cleaned up. It is all done on a Classic Triton with a little help from a Motif Rack on the guitar. The electric guitar is 50% Triton and 50% Motif. I also used MOSS in the Bass.

For those of you who have heard before this will be redundate and for the rest .....please enjoy my meager offerings.

I am slowly going to put music and artwork in my new Sound Click site. Thanks for listening!

Have you been listening to the Mahavishnu Orchestra lately? My god, this would fit in with some of McLaughlin's stuff. I have all his sh*t on my Mp3 player. You can certainly put interesting concepts together. This is just a pleasure to listen to. Very vintage, or homage I guess. This is my favorite type of jazz stuff.

Thanks George, you are too kind.
Growing up I cut my teeth on John Mclaughlin, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter and other of Miles band members. I doubt John Mclaughlin would appreciate your generous comparison. Thank you for listening. Not sure why but few people like this piece compared to my other stuff. I have lots of unfinished pieces. Posting these pieces is a way of coercing me into finishing my smorgasbord of musical fragments. Thanks for listening, bro!

I recently bought a Billy Cobham cd as I love his drumming so much. When I get into the mood for that old style fusion I get completly absorbed for days. My absolute favorite album is Apocalypse-Mahavishnu. I have heard that one hundreds of times and know every note by heart.

I specially liked the lead guitar sound - it really sings beautifully. Great melody too, you're very creative - loved the 5ths.

Looking forward to hearing more of your songs!

Thanks guys, my music varies from piece to piece. I am always trying to find where my music is. The music I write changes as I write. I understand theory and harmony so I find I am progressions and grooves oriented. I hope to develop better melodies and overall song development. We will see what comes out of OSAM. It will likely be a mish-mash of ideas hopefully boiled down to something palatable. Hopefully, this will grow my skills with writting.

Thanks for listening!

This is very cool Jazzy, I listened to a lot of this style in younger years, and this brought back memories.
I like that guitar patch, what did you use there?

Hey guys, I'm not often on that section...
But Jazzlover, that piece is great!!!
I absolutely LOVE that tune!

Can't say much about mixing/mastering because I'm listening it on iPod headphones, but it's so well composed!

BRAVO!

You`ve got it going here....fine work, reminding me of a fave group of mine.....Emerson, Lake , and Palmer.... I`d say you`ve got the mixing "thing' down pretty well. Enjoying the vibe very much!
Too cool!
Cheers!

Very nice indeed!

You go through more chord changes in four bars than I do in an entire piece! :-)

Really like the feel of this - very light and fun.

Good job!
