COMBI MODE.... (is this possible?)

Post by ambet »

Multi sample in one combination, example:

When I press the note C the sample will play and when I press the D note another sample will play and if I pr ess them both (C & D note) the two sample will play, is this possible? if it's possible how?

thanks in advance :)

In Sampling mode, you could create a multi-sample and assign each sample to the key you want. Then you can save that multi-sample as a Program, and then finally assign that program to your Combi.

If I understand the question, you can also set up a split combi patch. Assign one program with the wanted sample to the C note, and then assign another program (with the different sample) to the D note.

But why waste two programs when you can use one by setting up a multisample? Even if effects where the issue (different effects for different samples) you could record the sample with effects and free up an extra effect for other tracks.

True... but it's just an alternative solution. Depending on his needs, one or the other (or both) suggestions may work for the OP.

continous playing of sample?

Post by ambet »

how can I do this?

triggering one key note to play the sample I've set and even if I release the sustain pedal the sample will continue to play.

I need to know how because I want to play the string sample by triggering a note and at the same time I play the piano along with string sample. What happens to me is that when I release the sustain pedal the string sample stops to play :(

thanks in advance :)

From your description, I'd say this would be perfect use of the RPPR function. I don't have the manual with me right now, but you can download a PDF of it from the Korg site and search for RPPR.

There is even simpler solution than RPPR.

In COMBI mode press menu key and go to P3 MIDI, there you can select which timbre will be affected by which modulating source, browse through four tabs in the bottom of that screen to find damper. Select dampering just for the timbre you have your strings on and deselect it for the second one.

The thing is when you do this, you wont be able to damper your piano, which isn't natural way to play a piano, I mean without a damper, but if isn't important for this particular setup, then this is way to go.

Oh, I thought the desire was to start some pre-recorded string phrase and play the piano over the top.

Ambet try cranking the release on your string sample so you will still hear it after you release the key. If that still fades out too soon try checking the HOLD box in the oscillator section in program mode. If it is looped it will keep on going endlessly though.
