Mr Dennis Miden.....

Post by keyboard »

Hi Dennis

I see that you have been sharing some of your knowledge here at the forum......Are you back in "Korg Land " ?

I hope so because, between you and Rob, there is more common sense knowledge that you guys share , that can ever be found in the manuals...

Hi Ron,
Thankyou for the kind words, and I'm sure Rob does too.

But I have to say there are quite a few others on the forum who know as much, or more, and constantly help out new users, so they also deserve props as well.

As to a Korg keyboard, well, yes I am back in the club. I missed the sheer simplicity of using a Korg PA live so much, that I couldn't resist.

I am only using the PA800 but maybe it will morph into a PA2x in the future.

The Audya is looking very good too ;)

Cheers

HI Dennis,
great to see you've joined us again.
Last time we spoke you were using a Roland.
Didn't work out??

Korg kind of grows on one. haahaa.

I think the Audya's price is going to have to be less than we're currently anticipating, to be affordable.

Hi Rikki,

The G70 was alright, but it's not a PA!! So yes back to the Korg, and I have to say there is nothing, imo, that comes close. At the moment anyway.

I will add the hard drive and the MP3 card, so apart from the keybed, and some sliders it will be pretty close to a PA2x.

I agree on the Audya issue.

I too, think the Audya will end up being way too expensive for the Oz arranger market, unless something very dramatic happens to the exchange rate!!

What a coincidence - I had a dream about a keyboard called "Audya" about 2 or more years ago.... but it was only a dream

Hi Dennis,

Welcome back to the forum and I'm very pleased you've got another Pa2x. Is it your original one? So, what keyboards do you have at the moment? Did you get an M3?

Best regards,
Rob

Hi Rob, and thanks.

No I couldn't afford the PA2x but I got great bargain on a PA800 so thats what I will be using. I tried buying back my old one, but it was to be repaired and re-issued to a dealer.

Tried the M3, great keyboard, but I didn't have the time to do it justice.

Dennis welcome back. I've been there and done that. I went from a Tyros2 to a G70 then a Korg Pa800 and now the Pa2xPro. I have now been using Korg arrangers live for about the last 15 months. I got a little restless at Tyros 3 release time and spent some hours with it but just couldn't give up the Pa2xpro. I did miss certain Yamaha features so I did wind up with an S900 that serves me well and is a nice compliment to the Pa2x. Good luck and have fun with the PA800. :D

Thanks Stephen.

I was toying with the idea of adding a PC3 to the PA800, but I might just wait until I can "morph" the PA800 into a PA2xPro.

Hi Dennis,
what is the advantage in adding a hard drive?? Is it mainly an advantage for mp3's & samples ?? or am I missing something. I'm only using usb sticks currently.

I don't own an mp3 board as yet, haven't had a chance to price them locally. Should have bought one overseas while our dollar was still worth something. haahaa

BTW, have you had a chance to try the os 2 import/export function for styles. Pretty neat. No more importing/exporting of individual style parts neccesary.

Hi Rikki,

Yes it's to play MP3's live. I write/edit midis and record them on the PC as I reckon the MP3 is a lot easier to use than a midi live.

The BIG bonus however is MP3 album art!!

I have all my charts (postcard sized, bars and chords along the top lyrics on the bottom) scanned as .bmp files which I can then embed in the MP3 as album art.

IN a player like Winamp when the MP3 is recalled it also displays the album art too, so bingo...there's all the charts ready to go with each song.

So with around 2 -3 gig of songs I need the hard drive to store them all and run the songbook form internal rather than external.

Mind you I also have to find an MP3 card, and Korg Oz are out of the hard drive kit for the moment, so it will be a while, in the interim I will keep using the tablet PC.

As to the OS 2, I haven't done it as I don't have the keyboard yet, should be here , hopefully early next week.

A soon as I get it OS 2 will be installed immedately.

Cheers

Welcome back!!!! :D :D

Rikki, another advantage is you can have various sets on the hard drive and then they can be loaded to the PA800 anytime they are needed.

It can save the frustration of the "invisible" USB stick JUST when it is needed most :D
Regards

Mick
