Regarding karma, it's already not too bad for most things, the biggest problems is to figure out what the extra controllers do, mainly the user rt sliders, the 2 switches, joystick, ribbon and XY pad.
Hi Marc,

I know I'm at risk of being a "thread terrorist" here .... is this a documentation project you would take on?

Thanks,
Rob

Not really, I've tried. Actually, I do generate *some* of it, but the fact is, I actually have to make decisions and program it first, so why not just fill it in as you go along?

Yes, you can create a program that spits out what CC is assigned to which Knob, and which timbres it affects, but you can get that same information just looking at the screens in the M3. It's the "human language" that helps. Good luck getting a program to spit out the phrase "Affects pitch modulation on the drums and Filter Mod on the bass - try using it with SW2, which locks it." ;)

Anyway - be my guest - write the program - everyone will love you for it. :)

Ahem!!!! No. It's a very time consuming and detailed chore. Stephen deserves a ton of credit for the User Guide. And as he has pointed out, be our guest and write a program that will generate anything close to the User Guide.

Don't get me wrong, the docs on the catalyst combis is top notch, I was just speaking about these hundreds of combis where there is no documentation at all.

Off course it's not too difficult to navigate thru a few pages and figure out what each controller does, but it's a bit time consuming, and by the time you figured out what the second rt user slider does, you forgot what the first one does.

Generating some info by a program may not give the best results, as it may generate too much info and lacking clarity, but still better than nothing.

Another option would be to share the work, if 20-30 people can work on it, we could have all our combis documentated in no time :D

I've got my copy of the Catalyst this morning.
Very nice! Great job!
Be sure to play with sliders and other RT controls.
That makes a lot of difference.

Thanks a lot to Stephen for keeping on with his important (for us) job.

And don't forget to hit the KARMA button under the CONTROL ASSIGN selection at the left so that you can get at the different KARMA Scenes. Remember to hit this button twice to change from groups 1-4 or 5-8. We took special diligence to program some very interesting change-ups with each scene.

Glad you are enjoying Catalyst v 1.
Cheers,
Eric

Eric, can i send you a personal e-mail or PM, i have few questions regarding
KM3, i will explain in details so you understand better and respond when you
can...since its hard to get answers or read all of the documents for few things.
Sometimes its annoying for me to read something fpr ours i already know just
to find one answer, i dont even want you to answer me in details, just point
me to the right pages on the synth, soft or manual, i will find my way fast,
i am good with that. Only if you are willing...will be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes and i replied back to you??? I see you havent read it yet.
This is what i wrote:

Eric, thank you for the response, i know but sometimes its hard to get some
answers from Stephen cuz he is busy too and i usually dont have simple or
as most users questions, i always have something deep and complicated,
I am a power user, i use every feature on any machine i use, to the last parameter.
I will create an e-mail today or tomorow and send it to you privately, also with
pictures for better understanding and i will also post it on KARMA LAB forums
so other users can profit knowledge from that too, then when you have time
and if you know you can write me back privatelly or post on the forums,
maybe in there Stephen will fill in too if me and you are missing something.
Thanks

Nedim

Hi Nedim,
That's partly why I sent the PM recommending that you ask Stephen about your questions involving KM3; because this thread should be about the release of Catalyst v 1. I see you are really delving into the M3 and KM3 - like playing chess on multiple levels, eh. Try posting your questions over at KLF in the KM3 forum. That way others working with KM3 can tune in to the dialog there instead of this thread.
Cheers,
Eric

Great addition to the M3!! Lots of fun! My favorites are Katjas House, 5th Degree and Organ Transplant(strange name?) However regrding the 8 chord pads.. Are there any consistent pattern or assignments given to the pads for different chords? Such as "A" chord is always on Pad 4 or ,"C" is always assigned to Pad 2 etc.. ? Curious?

Absolutely not. The 8 chord pads are programmed as a viable chord progression, for whatever key the first pad is in. Sometimes it's A, sometimes C, sometimes E, sometimes G... I don't do the chord progressions all in the same key. But the one consistent idea is that you start with chord pad 1, and follow through the other 7 pads (in order), allowing a few measures for each pad, and it creates a sequence of chords that should be demonstrative of the combi, while being a somewhat logical chord progression...

BTW, glad you are liking them. It's interesting, so many people name different combis as "their favorite"... just goes to show... everyone's different.
