Yeah, needless to say I'm not a fan.
More ROM and RAM please and then I'll be happy.

VAST is no good without a sound source worthy of the engine.

maybe it depends on what you're looking for in a keyboard. The pc3x right now (without the future expansions and so on) give me the best orchestral sounds and the best synth engine (yes, it's a real VA) you can find on a keyboard (32 layers in program mode). Then the audio quality go far beyond my triton classic (poor old triton classic! I still love it a lot!) and other synth I have. Anyway, 64MB without organs and synths sample (they're created with kb3 and the VA1 engine) are really fine for me, and there is still room for 2 exp slots the will come in the future (yes I trust kurzweil).
Anyway I always say that if you don't like it you don't have to buy it, but I'm pretty happy with my two kurzweils and can't even think to trade them with an m3 or an oasys, like I'll never give away the wavestation ad I've bought a few month ago!

anyway, I won't talk anymore about the pc3x, but I'll post a little noodling with a program (not a setup [combi in korg synths]) I've created to test the dynamic of the instrument when I bought it. It's a single program without overdubbing other tracks.

Hi Lorenzo.

If it makes you happy then that's all that matters. The OASYS has me utterly spoiled rotten from every angle so I'm happy too. The OASYS is also probably part of the reason why I don't have much interest in anything else on the market right now.

Yes, I'm agree, everyone should chose the right instrument for his/her needs and try to use it in the best way. I made an error in the past buying a motif es rack and I had to sold it when I broke up with my old band (that rack was perfect for that kind of music but I couldn't stand it for anything else) and now I try to make right decisions for my musical needs (ehm... maybe except for the waldorf blofeld that's on its way to my home... but ehm ehr... you know the GAS?

Sensational. That's on the PC3x? Any external processing (effects)? Sounds like you could literally reach out and touch it.

You'd likely be hard pushed to get that out of a Korg. Either that, or I've watched too many demos of Korg workstations being used for cheesy 'daytime TV' type stuff.

yes no external effects added, just what I play on the keyboard in real time (you can even hear a little mistake in the strings cut off when I used in the wrong way the mod wheel...

I'm with you there; I don't own an Oasys but I've played one--it's an amazing keyboard.

Kurzweil finally has a better keyboard on their hands now with the PC3 series, although they continue to drop the ball with that tiny view screen. I still have my K2661 and yeah, it has some great sounds, but it's annoying to program.

Hopefully if and when Kurzweil makes a successor to the 2600 series, they will do much more research, listen to the players, and make the thing more user-friendly.

In my own opinion - K2661 is a joke. PC3 series as well - for example, there's just something about that keybed that makes me wanna hurl. I don't know if it was these particular keyboards that I tried but... they sucked big time.

K3xxx series, which they've been talking about for years, should build upon the K2600 heavily, but with some serious redesign. The amount of usable memory, lack of onboard hard drive and USB interface, insanely expensive options and such things need to be adressed. Don't even get me started on the ridiculous LCD screen that needs some serious rethinking. It's a darn shame that a keyboard that sounds so good even after being 10 or so years old - didn't have a larger screen (touchscreen would be awesome, of course). I mean, Trinity had a quadrillion times better screen then this....

Backwards compatibility is a great thing, really. Kurz always tried to be up to speed on that and... if they pull that off, as well - winner is here. I mean, sound quality was always there.
