MIDI File (SMF) Problem

Post by johnwalker »

My KTE is not detecting programme (General MIDI patch number) settings for each track in Song Play Mode. All tracks default to G001 Acoustic Piano with the exception of Track 10 which defaults to G(d)001 Standard Kit. What am I doing wrong? The MIDI files play perfectly on my P.C. selecting correct sounds for each track right from the start of the song. I've spent countless hours ploughing through the various manuals but cannot seem to find an answer; so any suggestions would be very welcomed. Many thanks indeed. - JOHN

Sounds like there are no program change events in the tracks. Try loading these SMF's into the Triton's sequencer, and then assigning programs to each track. Then save the file as a SMF. Then they should work okay in S. Play mode.

Many thanks for that, but I know there are programme change events in the tracks because the files work on my PC and also on another keyboard.

a couple more things to check -

check each track to make sure there are no ADDITIONAL program change effects (they tend to get inserted in there somehow by themselves).

try using the other bank map (change that in global mode)

check global mode to make sure it's receiving all 4 types of MIDI messages (SYSX, PRG, etc... )
