Accidentally formated my CF Card. How do I...????

Post by Alone »

Hello, everyone,

Bought a new CF card and got them mixed up.
I accidentally formated the one with all my songs, etc. on it while it was in my keyboard, Does anyone know of a way to retreat datas from a formated CF card ? Any software out there to help me ? My whole life's work was on that CF disk. :(

There is a program I've used before called 'recover my files'. It is great, however as with all file recovery programs, it will literally find every file you ever erased or deleted, and they won't have any file names.

I also can't remember if it only works on certain file types. Anyway, you should at least have a look at their website and similar programs.

First you could try with your CF card manufacturer's own utility. If there is none available you'll have to google for a freeware utility for recovering flash cards.

I used to have one utility that worked pretty well, but it all got lost when my PC got stolen. I'll look around and let you know if I find something.

Update:

At the moment, I'm trying out the program: Recover My Files, but it doesn't seem to detect files created by the Extreme.

Any program out there that will detect any and I mean, any files ?

well, I believe the problem is that when you format a drive, the file allocation table (FAT) is erased. This table basically says which files are where. Programs like Recover My Files scan through the whole drive looking for common traits - headers that are specific to certain file types like word, excel, pdf, bitmap, jpeg, etc file formats.
Obviously, KORG format files aren't very common, so there's no reason for the people who make these programs to even know that they exist...

Basically, I don't think you'll find anything... unless there is a software team that's made software especially to recover korg or maybe all synth files.

:D UPDATE!!!

OK, so I looked around and found a recovery program called " Get MY Data Back" and guess what!!!???

I was ABLE to recover 99% of my songs back. Somehow one of the song file was currupted. but oh well, 99% is pretty darn good.
Pretty cool.

So anyone run into this problem, " Get My Data Back " is the program to use to recover.
