The Monotron has been causing quite a stir, with people either loving it, or really don't see how it could be of much use. I'm in the latter category; for me the *very* limited parameter control is just not enough.
What I have in mind though, is a randomisation feature. Obviously the engine would have to be more advanced, but that is a given if Korg decide to update the unit. Add a "Kaossilation" button, that randomises settings within a given category, e.g. 'leads', 'bass', 'pads' etc.
This would drastically increase its usefulness, while still keeping to the 'small and portable' concept. I have no idea how much bigger the unit would have to be to incoprporate more technology (more osc's, lfo's etc), so please forgive me if I'm way out here
The monotron seems great for what it is. It is virtually a toy, a gimmick, but one that sounds exceptional and could be great for a cheap reasonably high quality analog sound.
I think you're missing the point which is that it is pure analog. The knobs are no doubt connected straight to the LFO, VCO & VCF. There is most likely no chip in there, hence no presets or anything like that, so nothing to randomise. And there are so few parameters anyway - I tend to find using your hands on the knobs is a great way to randomise.
Expanding on what else was said here though, it would be great to see a real Kaossilator synth - maybe something Electribe sized with a touchpad in the centre flanked on each side by MMT Synth controls. Basically a bit like a single synth part from the EMX.

Yes, that's why it would need to be upgraded hardware wise.
