Cant get the sound...

i have a microkorg xl and i am trying to get the sound of animal collective my girls.
there are some people wo cover them on youtube but i cant get the sound on my synth

Hi,

I could make that sound for you but it will cost you about 430 EUR (to buy a MKXL)
In that case, the sound itself would be free of charge for you

You want to use a sawtooth with the 'unison' oscillator mod type. Set the phase (ctrl2) quite low such that you get a plucky attack, and set the detune amount by ear. Probably not too high as that would diminish the phasey attack.

You want to match up that phasey attack with an envelope on a low pass filter. I think the LPF cutoff should be set such that you can still hear the sound fairly clearly - not such that it cuts out the sound altogether. Then adjust the EG amount to taste.
Alternatively there may be no filter and it could be the amp envelope only. I haven't made this sound yet, just giving notes on how I would go about it.

Apply a generous amount of reverb (although nowhere near as much as there is on the vocals), set the arpeggiator on and set the pattern to 'down'.
Strike a three note chord.

Just out of curiosity, how did you view the linked video considering it's blocked in germany?

Well, I really don't know how the sound is, but I wanted to clear first the commercial details. Once cleared, my next question would have been to send me a mp3 or another link

But now seriously: Bloc at least had the kindness of mentioning the songs name and artist.

My answer was a kind of rebellion to those who enter this forum to drop a YT-Link and a query about someone creating a patch for them without taking any efforts themselves. So maybe you will find this kind of answer more often from me in the future.

It is nothing personal but I agree with xmlguys often exposed point of view. On the other side I like very much recreating patches as a challenge.

By the way: xmlguy are you still here? Long time I haven't seen a post of you!
