Sliders on touchscreen aren't moving

Post by sgi-batman »

Hi.
I am the kid in the block, I purchased my OaSys 2 days ago.
I am not new to KORG - spent my whole life with their stuff. PS-3200, PS-3300, VC-10. MS10. MS20, MS50, SQ-10, Trident, M1, Wavestation et cetera.

I hope my question was not already answered long time ago, but please - I have no time to study the whole FAQ section. I am in the middle of a real big production.

My problem:
I can't move the sliders and knobs on the screen. I can toggle mute/unmute and I can use the real hardware-sliders left to the screen. There is feedback ! When I move a slider or knob on the hardware side, the sliders etc. move accordingly on the screen.
I even can select a slider - beep - but no response in up-down movement.

I'd apprechiate any help, maybe somebody of you OaSys Cracks know what the seller has messed up. He told me, he did a "little tweedling here and there" before he sent it away.

Thank you all

Ralf

P.S.: The LAPC-1 MS-20/Polysix knows dont't move as well. I just can select a know or slider und turn the data wheel like gone crazy.

The M3-Xpanded and the PA Entertainer Keyboard Series are capable of doing this, but "thanks" to Korg Japan NOT the flagship OASYS with its huge touchsreen... At least you can use "Tone Adjust", where you can define which virtual slider or knob (for example to control the MS-20) you want to move in real time with the hardware controllers...but you cannot move anything directly via the OASYS touchscreen and you can just choose one parameter on the touchscreen in order to edit the value with the data slider or data wheel...

I liked those onscreen functions on the Trinity line. As Dany said, use the hardware knobs and sliders. What may help you is to press the CONTROL SURFACE tab (on the far right of your touchscreen). Whether in Program, Combi or Sequencer modes, this tab will display a screen that shows you the assignments for the knobs, buttons and sliders.

Notice that the tabs on the left side of that screen correspond with the physical mode buttons, next to the Vector Wand (Timbre/Track, Tone Adjust, etc). You can change Modes from either the touchscreen or those buttons.

In Tone Adjust, you can look at the screen and decide to assign functions such as Filter Cutoff and Resonance for EXi2 or OSC2. This way, you can control 2 sets of filters or other functions of both OSCs or EXis simultaneously.

Once you see what the controllers are assigned to, you can control multiple tracks, knobs, etc., simultaneously, instead of jumping from one function at a time on the touchscreen and tiring out your jog wheel.

Hi Dany. Thank you for reply. I am a little confused now because the former owner insist the (screen) slider & knobs moved all nicely with no tricks.

For an 8k$ machine ?! That's odd ! But thanks a lot, so I know what must NOT work. Too bad, these realtime controls on the touchscreen were one of my reasons to by that baby.

That's a great tip - will not do what I want the beast to do but I think I can live with that. Thanks a lot !

I thought that too, at first, but sgi's responses are within each of the quotes:
